That is a nice list of definitions, great work! I always get the questions of, "I have this code, what do I need to fix?"
The codes and definitions will start you on a path of diagnosis. Before throwing expensive parts at the problem checkout ALLDATAdiy and make sure you are replacing the correct component on your Mercedes.

P0401 = Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected (Not sure what the issue would be here as you have changed the EGR valve)
P0299 = Turbo/Super Charger Underboost (This fault is for a boost leak somewhere in the system Make sure you check all your hoses and pipes for your turbo system . Any holes in hoses or breaks will cause a flat spot also remove the hose going to the turbo and make sure there is no severe oil you may have a issue with the turbo seals themselves. The turbo could be going bad as well)
The symptoms you are describing are usually associated with the P0299 code.

If i'm not mistaken, your ETC (tranny computer) is faulty. R U in limp mode? (Limp mode = stuck in second, no sport shift, cannot change W/S setting, and slight jerk when you put in in drive (which is actually 2nd)?Originally Posted by MR AMG UK

Once the check engine light comes on, there's a major fault stored (represented with a capital "F" when scanned).
If the C/E light is on and you're in Limp Mode, a basic scanner most likely cannot clear condition, even after problem is rectified, but in this case, if it is a faulty tranny comp, it's trouble....from what I hear, MB isn't allowing tranny comp swaps by independent shops anymore, but I'm not sure. I hope it isn't cuz it means you HAVE to go to dealer and that means $$.
Don't go exactly by what I say, you have to get to a real scanner / DAS to be sure.

See Pic: I'll assume you know where the reservoir is bc you say it's fine. In the picture, the red arrow points to the sensor. If you have a leveler that is stuck, you could try tapping gently on the two spots marked with red "X" to see if it can get unstuck. Don't use regular hammer as it can break plastic; use a rubber mallet or maybe a screwdriver wrapped in a small towel. Check to see that sensore wire (blue arrow) is seated firmly, or remove it and check the contacts. Clean them with contact cleaner or alcohol, and reseat properly. You could als remove sensor to see it it is clogged or stuck. Rinse with distilled water. Or just replace the whole thing:

Good gravy!! that is alot of codes. why if mercedes can diagnose the problem on their own, does it take so long for a mechanic to do it?

I have a 2002 SLK32 AMG. My husband was driving home one day last week and the service engine light came on. This has happened before and when we turned off the car and restarted it the light did not come back on. Unfortunately this time when he restarted te car the light was on and the shifter will not shift out of park. I got a code reader and plugged it in. It gave me a code of P0705 indicating the transmission range sensor circuit. Can someone please tell me where this is located? All I can find is that it is on the outside of the transmission and easy to replace. PLEASE HELP!! I love this car and would like to get it repaired without paying the expensive shop rates.
Thank You in Advance

I own an E320. After my key locked my steering and was repaired. My check engine light message came up and was diagnosed as conductor plate. The conductor plate was replaced and the code P0700 and P0731 appeared and the car does not select gears. When I tried further, it points at open circuit. Please help. I am very bitter as I am MB die-hard.

I wish I could help. I finally took my SLK to get a StarDiagnosis. The dealer mentioned the conductor plate but I don't have a definite answer yet. The car is there now. I should know today. They also said that the shifter assembly could have gone bad. When I put it on a generic code reader I got a what I think is an open circuit. I will send an update when I get it.Originally Posted by obinna.ejim

I have just bought a 2005 e500. I have a message "Visit Workshop" "1 Malfunction" But I am unable to determint what the malfunction is. I have searched and scrolled etc, but cannot identify it. Is there something simple I am not doing to dig deeper to get the reason for the malfuntion. Cheers

P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
Any solutions to this code? I believe this is the code I have on my car, I don't notice anything power wise. But as for my mpg, they have gone from around 23 city to 14-15.
Any help would be appreciated

Like so many of us, I also have a problem....with my 2005 C55. The left license tag bulb blinks, then goes out altogether. The code is probably B1617 but not scanned. RockAuto says it is an incandescent bulb which it is NOT! It is an LED and I replaced it and have the same problem. It flashes at first a few times then goes out altogether.
I'm worried it may also be the bad ground syndrome of the 08-09 C-class cars. The right bulb is OK so I may pull the trunk lid liner out to follow the wire leads there for good continuity.
Anyone else seen this problem?
Thanks all.....

Good luck
Anybody know what C0001 and C2001 fault codes are?

Doing a general google search c0001 seems to be some radio based code like requesting pin code for radio if you disconnected battery your radio might be requesting a pin. As for C2001 I can't find anything on it. Maybe wrong code?Originally Posted by shaun.barnard
