The fast get faster

well hopefully... I got my new transmission back from RENNtech. From what I'm told the whole transmission was machined and fitted with more clutch packs. I hear it can now handle something like 1000 ft lbs of torque. I was told by RENNtech that my clutches were completely smoked. I think its safe to say 450 or so wheel horse power is the max a C55 can take. Sadly I think its even less then 450whp.

In any event, I'm very excited about getting back to the track and trying to beat my best times. I feel good about picking up a few tenths just from having a trans that does not slip.

I think it does, RENNtech says its built with the same components they would use for beefing up a SL65 trans. So I guess its now a reinforced SL65 trans.

Compared to the alternatives this was about half the price. At $2500 It seemed to be the best choice for me. RENNtech has always been good to me. At this point I wanted to send my trans to a place I could trust. So who better than RENNtech?

If he can get to 1000 ft/lbs, then yes-a new OEM tranny is just that-new-and OEM (built to handle the 400 or so powa that we all think they can handle)-

You have to look at the cost of an OEM tranny+2500 to properly hold the power Holey is making (and its damn near maxed out for power adders-there isnt much more room there-no where near 1000 ft/lbs).
Its track season for you now down there-post up some vids!

Also keep in mind that if you dragrace your car with sticky drag tires the transmission will tear ALOT more compared to if you only race "on rolls" or on street tires which aren't that sticky. So just saying 450 Rwhp doesn't give the whole picture, you have to look into how you use the car to.

Very true.

there is a lot of reasons why this trans failed, 1.5 60ft's didnt help.

rockjock i think you misunderstood . or i did. he sent his tranny and for 2500 got his tranny rebuilt to handle upwards of 1000ft/lbs. thats a steal! doesnt a new oem stocker run about 4k?

Congrats on the new trans! I'm confident that will shave a few tenths off. Did they do any valve body mods for quicker shifts?

I heard all Renntech does is add another OEM clutch pack (Coming from someone that bought the Renntech upgrade and then tore it apart). That explains the price considering they charge outrageous prices for pretty much rebadged OEM AMG parts (in this case replacing with OEM clutch packs and adding another one). I also heard the OEM clutch packs are like paper. My clutch packs were supposedly toast too when I had my trans done by SHR but they change out the clutches to double sided kevlar as well as many other modifications (valve body etc). I got raped on the price because I was one of the first to do it though. The 722.6 and NAG-1 are pretty much the same transmissions. NAG-1 is used in SRTs and such. 722.6 is in alot of MB 5 speed V8's. How do I know my trans will hold? I don't, but there are some very high hp cars hat are running it and my trans is built to the same specs. Like this car

This got me thinking so I did a quick google search and found these guys, IPT. http://www.importperformancetrans.com/722.6.shtml

Anyone else heard of them or used any of their parts.

Not only have I heard of them but I have done business with them. Based on my experience and what I've read about them I would not recommend them. Do a search on them.

CLK63 Black, E350 Wagon, Supercharged Denali, Lotus Elise, Tesla Model 3 Dual-Motor.
I've thru the years had Renntech redo 2 transmissions that slipped and lost the lower gears from beating the crap out of them.

They really know what they are doing and both trans are still running and are tough as nails.
