Aside from the dangers of powder coating (make sure the shop knows what they are doing)-there are some (lighter) AM set ups that will run you about the same money as PC them-
how will they look?
Killer. Silver with black rims (matte is my pref-not a high gloss) is almost as classic as white and gold or red and black (not over done....yet).

if its just for looks-and the car wont see many potholes/track days-I'd say go for it-but keep an open mind about those AM ones.....

Talk to Aho. He's the one with the Laguna Seca Blue C32. What your talking about is exactly what he did. I think it looks great and he said it turned out really well. Here's a recent link of his with pics. https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...hotoshoot.html

The factory rims (really, any rim) is temp treated to withstand their use-and depending on the process used to make them (forged, cast, hot, cold, slow, fast, ect ect) its diff temps that these are set at-
think of taking a hammer and throwing it in the fire....its kinda useless after that-same thing can (and has) happened to rims.

pot holes and what nots, they seem to be holding just fine. No dents, bents or cracks. I was at the powdercoating shop when they did my rims and the walk-in oven was set at 325 F and for only 12 minutes. Presandblasted.
The paint finish is so much smoother and seems thicker and easier to clean.
