Parts needed to replace the fuel pump

Hey guys, my C32's fuel pump went out and I was wondering what are the exact parts that I need, with part#'s to change it out and make everything work again. I looked around and on parts.com they had left and right fuel pumps which confused me...

How do you confirm you fuel pump dead?

Replaced the CPS and it's still acting up. It used to be occasional failure to start up, then the car would shut down while I was driving until it wouldn't ever start.
MB said it's my ECU, but I doubt it.

This is a fairly easy diagnosis on fuel pump failure. Install a fuel pressure gauge and see if pressure drops or goes away. If not then it is not a fuel issue.
Then jump the relay in the rear sam. This is the fuse box at in the trunk on the
driver's side. It is the top relay and is black. If fuel pressure is still not present then it is most likely a pump. If pressure returns then it is either the relay or the input. I have maybe seen 1 ME control unit fail in this manor in 13 yrs working on these.
Good luck.

It's not enough evident to say it's the pump. You don't want to throw $800 away. Just like other said, you have to diagnose the problem to confirm if it's ignition or fuel. Then go from there.

There a little black valve cover (similar to one on the wheel) at the end of the fuel injector line. you can check to see if there is pressure when the key is on. You can also check it by disconnecting the fuel rail if you find it hard to check by the valve.

If there is no fuel, it can be relay, fuse, connection wires/plugs ware, fuel pump

To check for ignition, buy a tester like $3-$5 and it should be straight forward to test to see if there is ignition spark to the spark plug when crank.

If there is no ignition, it can be fuses, loose connection from front SAM, bad front SAM, CPS, cam sensor.

Don't just throw big $ in just because you think.

Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion guys, but from personal experiece the dealer replaces this and that (CPS being the latest, then there was water pump that they didn't diagnose as broken, melted catalytic converters)and I am out of warranty. The techs blame my mods because apparently that makes them "unable to diagnose the problems correctly"... which is BS.
So far I have spent more than my car is worth just repairing it...

I am thinking of just selling it the way it is.

Do our cars have two fuel pumps? My mechanic (not my normal guy) is saying that mine are shot and he needs to replace them. When I search I find a few different things. One is under "fuel supply" and one is under "fuel system components":

I am a little lost with my fuel pump issues. I do not have pressure at my rail and don't here the pumps kicking on when i turn the car over. I have swapped the rear (A) fuel pump relay with another one that matches its specs to see if its the relay and still no pump action. I also have put a test light on all the wires in the fuel pump harness at the location behind the drivers seat and the only line that has power is what powers my fuel gauge. I opened the passenger area pump and seen no burned wires or disconnections.

So what gives? Anyone have any ideas of what to test next? I pulled every fuse in the car and all are good. Is there more than one fuel pump relay?

Ok thats weird, I was having problems with my car and then I see this thread. It failed to start this morning (it turns fine but never fires as if there is no fuel coming in). But when me and a tow guy pushed it out of the parking spot to be towed, then it started no problem and I was able to drive it to the mechanic, waiting to hear from him now. '03 C32 with 35k miles on it.

EDIT: Mechanic says it was a weak battery. But he found that the harmonic balancer was vibrating and needed to be changed too but I think it's a ploy to get $$...
