c3 pulley saver kit

for those that get on the srt-6 forum needswings built a pulley saver kit for the 178 and 185 mm crank crowd. i since talked rob into building a kit for my slk32 witha c3 pulley and stock crank.
this is a great way to eliminate the small idler pulleys that fail so often with larger 100mm pulleys and get a bit more belt wrap in the process.
big hit with me!

Looks pretty sweet. Keep us updated on it down the road. I'd definitely be interested in this.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that one of the benefits to going with the Code3 SC pulley was that it didn't overdrive any of the accessory pulleys like a larger crank pulley did.

And granted, while the idler pulley is prone to fail even with no modifications at all, isn't just a replacement or higher quality idler pulley required?

to a point you are correct. for me it wasnt an issue of overdriving the pulleys but the inherent failure of the small pulleys.
i have replaced 3 idlers in less than a yr. its not so much higher quality but larger pulleys slow the spinning bearing down. by relocating the position of the idler it also allows for a longer belt and a small inc. in belt wrap.

I have PSK for 185MM, and can say NeedsWings has excellent customer service. Always prompt, and informative replies whenever I have questions. The 185MM PSK hasn't gave me any problems either. It's good to see a belt wrap for the Code3 supercharger pulley! Eliminating that small idler is always a plus too...

Also, if nothing else, this kit makes it even easier to remove the supercharger pulley since you don't have to remove the bracket and guide pulley. This is definitely a plus for C3 users.
