Funny, because I was just looking at this outrageous listing this morning.

- To begin with, for the beginning bid, you can buy 2 C55's.
- They made 451 US 2006 C55's (1299 US 2005). There were more around the world, and I'm sure there were more than 5 shipped to the east coast.
- Whenever you have a rediculously low mileage car, it's either a typo, a super-garage queen (rare) or a junk car - aka flood car, accident car, etc etc.
- This "all the bells and whistles" car is missing the bi-xenons and black maple wood interior
- I have a diamond black car, and while rare, I'm sure there are many more. So I can't be the other one of two.
- He's nuts thinking that a 5 year old car is worth 90% of its value in this buy it now

I'm guessing you figured out how I feel about the listing

Ok, Let sitpulate to the fact that it is a VERY nice car.
$55k would have bought this new (probably!)... The car no matter how you look at it is 5 years old... I don't know if only (2) 06 C55 were painted diamond black but really that's not much of a selling advantage IMHO. Is it rare? Maybe! Is it worth $25k over what a VERY nice C55 is worth? Probably not! At least I don't think so.
Again, IMHO, the car is probably worth the low to mid $30k mark that's taking into account the extremely low mileage and the paint.
Save the cash and buy one in the real world!

Like Viper said above, you could buy two nice C55's for the price of this flawless specimen. I also see a couple other problems. Since this car has only 4,000 miles, there's a good chance that it has never been serviced. Just sat in a garage with the same fluids, rubber, etc.. for four years. Also, one thing I like about buying used cars is that someone else has taken care of all the typical problems. In this situation he hasn't had a chance to have any problems. He probably hasn't utilized the warranty at all. If you buy this car you're going to get a car with only a year or two left on the warranty and after that your SOL.

There are definitely the plusses and minuses of buying a "more used" car. As to what you said, a coworker of mine believes the same thing - he'll only buy a used car if its got between 60-80k miles. His thinking is that if it's made it through the original gauntlet, it'll continue to last a long time.

My uncle is a used car dealer, so I've actually never bought a new car. So yeah, I feel similarly to your co-worker. Of course, a couple times, I've been on the losing end of that bet. More often than not though, I come out on top. My company pays me for mileage and I've actually paid for and then profited off of many of my cars.

+1 to what everyone is saying... the owner's crazy to think he'll get anywhere near that (unless he gets lucky with some unwitting buyer, which happens). Assuming the mileage isn't a deterrent, it's probably worth $25-27k, tops.

FWIW, you could buy a used, 2008 C63 for what he's asking buy-it-now. With about $8-10k left over for mods.

Interesting that there are more pics of paperwork than the actual car. There is something suspect with the strut towers in the engine pic... Looks like black duct tape covering them possibly?

I personally like cars with low miles. It's too new for old fluids to matter at this point and at 1,000 miles per year, it is getting used. I'm driving around that much each year. I'd pay between 30 and 35 only AFTER seeing the car and verifying extensively that it is by strict definition 'showroom', which includes an undercarriage inspection. I'd also pay a premium for no rain, no snow.

C55
WHAT A TOTAL RIP OFF.

A while ago last year there was a BRAND NEW C55 at the local dealership with less than 100 MILES on the clock. The car sat in the factory in Germany and was NEVER titled. It retained its regular warranty AND came with the extended 100,000 mile warranty. My friend checked it out, replaced all necessary fluids and hoses and the car drove like a champ.

That basically brand new c55 was selling for 39k i believe. I posted it here a while back.

For 55k you can get brand new c63.

Why not find one with 20,000 or so miles and pay in the mid 20's? I mean whats the real allure of this vehicle other than the mileage? Are you really going to get that much more utility out of it?

You should be able to find a few of them for less than $25k around/under 50,000 miles nowadays.
