Is my coolant supposed to be green?
I replaced my water pump over the weekend (seized pulley damaged it) and my last step was to fill the antifreeze back up. Well, per everything I read I went with the OEM MB antifreeze, but when I opened it, I saw it was orange/yellow and not the green color I removed from the car.
Well I chose not to use the MB coolant as I didn't want to mix the two (as I didn't do a complete flush just drained it) and just refilled it with what I drained out of it (green) and water. I'll do a complete flush/fill later with the
So what's up? You guys think I should be cocnerned about this green coolant have been put in there in the first place? The car had a water pump replaced already at the shop so they would have filled it up back on October.

In the past few Mercedes I've had it has been a clear blue color, and the same clear blue color when I have the dealership change it.
I don't think the color means much as long as you are putting the correct one in, I would stick with factory OEM fluids as they are proven and spec for that application.
I just checked mine in the garage and it is that same clear blue color.

I doubt Eurocharge is using non oe coolant. I think the correct color is reddish orange. I am kind of color blind so I have no idea myself, but I am going by what I was told. Also the blue coolant comes from Germany and is not available in the states.

Orange coolant can corrode the radiators designed for green coolant. Yellow can be used in place of green.

So we can conclude that color does matter. Which makes if some of the victoms of glycol in the tranny thought they were being clever switching from green to orange... If the radiators in these cars were not designed for organic acid coolants, orange is doing more harm than good. I get the feeling that the blue coolant that came in the car in the first place was not organic acid. Unfortunately I dont have my owners manual so I can't look up the requirements but if its not made for orange dont use it cause "its better"

What im getting at is dong just just go to autozone and use the neon orange stuff thats designed for GM, Ford and VW/Audi cars thinking its better cause its orange. There is a lot of other variations and I am sure the MB stuff is not wrong.

Be safe and get the MB fluid. Tell the mechanic to change it to spec. You don;t want to have problems with your radiator and the intercooler (the part under the supercharge).

I need a way to proof that he put the wrong type before I ask him to change it...

ok so any ideas how to figure out if the coolant in my car is real MB fluid, or another fluid that is designed for the C32...
looking at my receipts, they used part # 000 043 301 05 ($26.95)
