Tire fell off WTF!
so... on my way home yesterday my tire fell off some how. i thought the burning rubber smell was coming from this junker vehicle infront of me i think it went 4 miles like this. but it could have been longer. ZERO change in driving characteristics... rather weird...

yeah, those are the only ideas i had too. it was after a left turn also... so it would make sense that a flat or a dent caused it to slip off that direction.

white and whiter
instant deflat shouldn't dismount the tire tho. I've done that before when i had the HRE and the rear picked up a nail. it shredded the sidewall, but not dismounting it.
that might be caused by the tire never seated properly on the rim by the installer as i've seen a few case.

That's why I find it odd that MBUSA disables the basic TPMS. That was the first thing I turned on with my C55. Really helps with low profile tires and saved me when I got bad valve stems once. Three flats in two days.

good news, no further damage, the inner bead was still seated. but the wheel chewed through the sidewall pretty good. no pics today, will take some tomorrow.

It happened to me before when I had 35 series up front on my Bremma wheels. The air pressure was low and when I turned left, it basically ripped the tire off the rim.

TPMS = tire pressure monitoring system. I noticed there is an icon on our dash but thought it just wasn't equipped with it?

Glad you n ur car is OK.. It could've been a lot worse...
Do check tire pressure once a week.. It's well worth it..
That happened to me in my other car awhile ago... scary ****..

There is one system that works through sensors in each wheel that tell you the pressure in each tire. The other system works through the ABS system to tell you that you have a tire low. It will warn you when one tire is down by 3-4 psi.

You need a STAR machine to activate the function. I never could find a dealer in Phoenix that claimed to know anything about turning it on, I had to use Steve at MBenzNL.
Tire size doesn't matter, it just looks at differences in pulse counts between opposing corners.

that's happens a lot when you have rims too wide for the tire. my audi s4 did that twice because they mounted 225's on a 8.5" rim. I switched to 245's and it never happened again.
