cels , misfires and catalytic convertors

I recently had a cel and then a flashing cel and some serious misfires on my 03 c32 , so straight down to my mercedes mechanic who put it on the star diagnosis which was coming up with fuel delivery problems, after changing the fuel filter still misfiring, only by chance did my mech tap the exhaust and decide one of the cats was rattling, after discovering the price of a new cat ,I decided to get two custom made straight through boxes, RESULT ! the car is running quicker than ever and sounds fantastic and the cel even reset itself !

Which aftermarket cats did you go with. I feel like my car has that problem as well, but I was worried that it was a faulty O2 sensor because it comes and it goes. I did not have any misfires, but the code stays stored in the system as a pending symptom. I already have some race cats and I'm really thinking about having them installed. How much did the job cost you if you don't mind me asking?

He said straight through boxes im guessing he means straight pipes with no cats? There are some lower cell cats that can be used, but have proved to produce little to no gains on the C32s I am still a little confused as to which cats he replaced and it if was the front cats it couldn't be replaced with a straight pipe without a CEL

Good point, I guess I focused on the the custom made part and not the straight through boxes. I wonder if he had some sort of 02 sensor bung put in.

My car has been feeling like it had a lack of power and I wonder if it could be because I had intermittent CEL stating that I had a problem with my cats.
