Now I'm mildly irritated.

My good friend of about 8 years keeps barking that he'd be able to bring down my C 32 with his '02 M5.

So, I've repeatedly asked that we have a friendly discussion about it. He keeps putting me off. Says he doesn't want to embarrass me. I recently acquired some headers off the forums, and now I need a retune.

My original tune was through Powerchip, which he conveniently now works at as of 5 months ago. Should I go back to Powerchip and have them dyno tune, or should I go elsewhere?

jeremy and travis no longer works at powerchip. I dunno who i talked to that works at powerchip now..but there dicks. You should be ok with the tune you have now. The stock powerchip tune is pretty rich, so you should be ok if your just adding headers.

The E39’s S62 powerplant was exceptionally refined for its era.
Its Getrag gearbox shames MB’s transmissions. Their purposeful tinwork continues to remain attractive.

A mildly tweaked C32 can easily pull ‘em – until the twisty bits.

So I should be fine with the headers and all the other mods, right? And yeah, I dunno what's with all the trash talk. If I run into him on the road, I'm going to settle this once and for all.

Don't be modest now ..........a little while back you claimed to have won against an M6 from 80 - 120 mph. I used to own an E39 M5 when it first came out.........not even close to an E63 M6, that's for sure

i dunno thats what the guy told me when i called last week, because i asked for both of them. The new guy wanted $500 just for a retune when I'm already a customer, so i told him to go screw himself.

Conveniently enough, yes it is, heh. We'll see what happens.

He says that if I can beat his M5, then I can race his Lotus, which from what I've heard is stock. Words are words though. No one really know what he's done to his car, so it's anyone's game. Keep in mind too that the M5 is 500 lbs heavier than the C32.

And I *barely* beat that M6. :p I guess we'll find out soon enough...hopefully. I have a feeling the race will be won or lost off the launch.

If I lose, it's ok. I'm still proud of my girl based on how much I've spent on her.

@Temjin: That's no good. My best friend applied there for a job a little while back. He's a shoe in once they have the space, but he's very respectable and modest. That's not a comforting notion though if the new help is being a jack. I sure hope it isn't the M5 owner.

dynoing 411whp on a dynojet in a 4000lb car....seems beatable.

i dont really understand the lotus comment. what kind of lotus is it? if it is a stock espirt, exige, elise......those things are hella slow. i raced my buddy's lotus elise with an exhaust and it wasn't even close. the M5 has more bawls then that.

I believe your tune came through fedor dezyn/vadim which was subcontracted to us? Ready when you are Masood

Don't know who you talked to but a reflash is $190 unless you want a custom dyno tune. PM me and let me know what you need and though I'm sure it's a mis-communication, whoever treated you poorly will be reprimanded.

My E39 has suspension work, it's quite nimble for a big sedan.

Dyno Dynamics not a dynojet and my esprit has more than proven itself a contender. It is also a very different car than an elise, a V8twin turbo is nothing to take lightly

ah...thank you for piping in. much more (considerably) respectable numbers then. out of curiosity, what mods do you have on the M5? intake, full exhaust, tune, pulley.....?

and regarding the lotus.....i figured it had to be an esprit and not stock IF you offered to give him a run if he beat the M5...... the esprit (with the tt V8)is one of my favorite cars and am well aware of their capabilities and potential modifications for them. they're one of my favorite cars!

Bingo on the E39 M5, all the bolt ons you can get, it's torquey but indeed it is heavy. I tuned a clk63 black yesterday and now it feels slow as hell in comparison but maybe I'll come back to the Benz world and get a CLK black, one of my favorite cars of all time

The Esprit has $200 worth in hardware (took the cats off) and of course a minor tweak to the tune

yah those M5s are heavy. my ex had one....had a tune and exhaust. the thing was a beast.

haha.....how much boost are you running on the esprit? boost controller? stock dp, intake, and everything except for deleted cats? i mean....those GT3 RSs arent exactly slouches lol.

Don't know to be honest with you, will hook up a boost gauge at some point and take a look. I don't drive it much, it's got about 10k miles on it (bought it with 3k) and I feel like a criminal for driving it as much as I do. The GT3RS had about the same power to weight ratio as the esprit, those guys couldn't believe I pulled on them because it weighed around 2800lbs and had headers. My Esprit is quick but by no means a monster, it will be when I slap some bigger turbos on it though

vid against a full bolt on E60 M5 running nos

It was who ever was manning the phone 4/26/10 at 2:27pm.

I assume this is public knowledge since who ever answered the phone told me this when i asked for travis and jeremy. Basically the guy told me that travis and jeremy got fired for pocketed the money from there tunes.

He wanted $499 for a retune when i'm already was a customer and i paid $300 to the initial tune and travis told me last yr that the retune would be $150.

He originally wanted $600 for the retune and I asked why the price doubled. He said thats the only way power chip can stay in business. Considering the mail in tune is from vadim car from 3yrs ago and tunes are pretty much 99.9% profit...his reasons didn't really make sense.

He fed me some other bs, eventually I just got annoyed and agitated.

I met jeremy and travis in real life at powerchip and they seem like good people. I don't know if the other stuff is true, but at least talking to them didn't want to make me throw something at the person on the other end of the phone.

Honestly, it soured me on the brand.

All due respect, TemjinX2, didn’t yours, in fact, melt down within a few weeks of having received its 'upgraded' EuroCharged ECU tune?

Not my intent to be an ***. Perhaps there were other extenuating circumstances you’ve not yet shared.
