Issues with higher mileage C55s? Suggested maintenance, repairs?
Hi everyone,
I just purchased a 2005 C55 with 65k miles and have been lurking in the shadows reading all the great advice from you in last few weeks. Great stuff out there!
Beyond oil changes, I was hoping to get some insight into what kind of preventative maintenance is suggested or required to keep the C55 in tip-top shape. Any common repairs or problems to look out for?
Many thanks!

check to see if previous owner put in the green air filters. i found out the hard way when a piece of it damaged my MAF and the car came to a gentle stop.
clean the MAF once in a while to keep away the rough idle
spark plugs are pretty easy to change DIY
my alternator went out at 45K, but i think that's a fluke.
I go through rear tires 3 times as fast as front tires
I have 105,000 miles and still runs like new

(outside of Service As & Bs) At 50k i did a tranny flush & new filter
everything else *knock on wood* has been good... although im with Mike... I wish I could get some more mileage out of a set of rear tires, haha

oh yea, motor mounts - avoid the cheap ones from deutschepartsusa (ebay) as they are not well made. I put them on my car, and about 2 weeks later the engine vibrates the whole car. I can see the motor has settled down and it nearly touching the crossmember.
One good thing, this ebay seller said he will refund me in full if I send them back. so

change the hoses on the intake manifold trans/motor mounts power steering and brake fluid flush. Make sure they use the correct fluids the rack uses a synthetic fluid that comes in a blue can q-1-32-0001 check your undershields in your fender wells they always fall off. Check your fog light grills and center girll make sure they are all fastened properly. They lose their clips and fall off which can be pricey to replace. Engine/Cabin air filters do a trans flush lube the sunroof track change the flex disks coolant flush replace vbelt replace thrust arm bushings and spark plugs.

I would add replacing the Idler pulley to the list, doing mine as well as the majority of the rest of what's been mentioned soon.
