2005 C55...what's it worth?
I went and test drove a friends C55 this past weekend...man did I love it! It's in beautiful condition too.
I guess I should back up for one moment. I am brand new and am looking to make the leap from a Volvo S60 R to a C55. On the Volvo forums, I would probably get flamed for asking such a simple question, but here is the deal...
Bone stock 2005 C55 AMG with 40ish k miles...what do you think that might be worth? The guy is asking 21k and it seems fair, but I am just double checking. One minute I think ok good deal, then I think hmmm...maybe not? I will say it has nav and xenons...these cars seem to have everything else as standard.
Your insight is greatly appreciated.

Clear Carfax and books and records. $21k is probably a pretty good deal. Better if you get a warranty!

Thanks all. I have been tossing this around in my head now non-stop for the past few hours. I never really thought I would own an MB (currently drive and do prefer a manual) but I think this is a good move.
I have read through all the threads on where to get your respective modifications and such...the forum has helped so far, thank you!

If it's in great condition, zero accidents, clean carfax, nav, xenon's, and 40k mi, I'd say that's a good deal.

Get it checked out by an experienced MB mechanic. Will you have to pay for brakes and new tires soon? Has the service been done on time? How hard has it been driven?
As far as worth goes...it's worth what someone will pay for it. Sorry, I know that sounds glib, but it's not meant to be. It depends on where you live, what the market is there, how the car was driven, what your income is, what your debt is, what your exposure to repairs means in terms of your lifestyle, etc.
So yea, try to negotiate 20K or 19K, but those numbers don't tell the whole story--just one metric in the decision, but not the only one to consider.
Post some pics if you buy it!!! Good luck with your decision.

If you're worried about manual, I just went from a A4 in 6 speed to a C32, bit nervous at first that I would hate getting into an automatic car but the sheer guts of these things makes up for it no problem at all. Not to mention, can relax a little in bumper to bumper
