2006 C55
I just got this 2006 C55!

Sorry the pics suck...more to come, but I just bought this 2006 C55. It has 80k miles, but its a super nice care in what I'm learning must be a fairly rare color, which is the reason I bought it. The car is Midnight blue with the Ash colored interior. It has chrome mirrors and door pull protectors which must also be pretty rare because I've not seen another with these factory options (yes, I know, I haven't seen another one with them because they look bad, lol, but I'm leaving them on because they were a true factory option on this car).

Anyway, I love the car so far! The previous owner put these cheap 18" wheels on the car because he bent at least one of the factory AMG wheels. I'm trying to sell these and I'm planning on replacing them with the C63 wheels! Also planning on doing the CLK grill conversion. Let me know what you guys think about the car. I'm also interested in knowing how rare the color is on a C55. It seems 80% - 90% of the 451 2006's must have been black or silver based on what I see. Thanks guys!

Congrats on the purchase.

are you sure that the mirror covers and door protectors are factory? I'd wager that they are aftermarket.

+1, never heard of that one myself and don't see it in the brochure either??? Did they tell you that was a factory option when you purchased the car??

I'm 99% positive they are OEM. The chrome mirrors are not "covers" like you may see for sale, these are a full mirror...chrome all the way through...behind the glass/mirrior and all. I know the chrome mirrors were ava from MB as an option and thus I believe they are a factory MB part. The doors pulls, I'm not so sure, but I'm assuming here that the original owner liked the chrome and went with the door pull protectors and the mirriors. Again, I'm not a big fan, but its growing on me and I think I'll keep them just because I think they are a rare option.

DIO = Dealer Installed Option. The MB equivalent of mudflaps and undercar rust protectant.

Not factory. Remove them post-haste!

no bad for a tiger, just dont go painting it orange now. Just got a set of oem c63 wheels for mine too you will love them it the only way to go. you do need to use wheel spacers though. CLK grill is hot too. Go Gamecocks!!

Haha...you know it...orange with purple Tiger Paws! LOL Seriosly, shoot me over a few pics of your car to barry_blakely@bellsouth.net. What size spacers did you need? Where did you get them? I'm actually going to get the wheels from OEwheels.com...so they will be replica C63's. Are you running C63 takeoffs? Thanks for the help!

no the real deal, found 3 of them on ebay for 400 bucks a piece and the 4th one from a guy on this site for 425 with a new tire on it. I get my parts for dealer cost and my man even told me that was 800.00 a rim. so they are not cheap but if you look you can find them used but in perfect condition. They are actually not mounted on my car yet, brought it in to dealership Tuesday and we all realized you needed the spacers so waiting for them to come from Cali ,hopefully right after Memorial I get them on, will send pics then. There are several guys on this site with pics up of c55 with the 63 rims you'll find em if you look.

2006 C55
Cool, thanks for the help. I had found a black one that looked awesome! Although, I was thinking that they were direct bolt-on with no spacers so that's a little disappointing to know. The OEwheels guys may have replicated them to fit the C55's because it seems there are several different backspacing's ava. The whole set of replica's are like $500...with AMG logo and star centers.

I look forward to the pics!

Is that the same as Ronnie James DIO!!

Actually, they are NOT a FIO, so being a DIO, you can RIO them (Remove Immediately OFF) Some DEALER whacked someone for the DIO Chrome handles, YIKESS!!

Congrats on your car. I love the color, but would have to agree witht the others, the chrome mirror covers have to go, dealer installed or not. Definately get the CLK grille and loose the stand up star -- that's how the nose was originally designed anyway. IMHO it looks much better that way.

They are definitely not a factory installed option they are an accessory. I don't really care for them, but they do protect the paint behind the door handles. I noticed on my car they are scratched to hell .
