Exclamation #$(*&$)# Keyless entry is really getting on my Nerves!!

My key seems to only work at night and when I stand like 1 foot from my car, Sometimes it dosn't even want to unlock it self. Anyone else have this Problem??
I tried with my old key and my new key and they both have the same problem.. Cant be the batterys beacuse I installed new ones and yet they still wont work as good as the use to.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.. I have gotten to a point were I just leave my car unlocked.

This isn't a fix for your problem, but it may help slightly. and will help everyone get more distance from their transmitter. I don't know how it works but if you hold your key to your temple and hit the button it will give you an extra 20ft+ range.

Your IR receiver on your car is dying. You have to replace it (or them, depending on the year of your car) on your handle.

Or get a remotekey Mods4Cars module, install it, and have even greater range without having to change your receiver on your car, and gain remote control of your windows and sunroof to boot. It's a great product.

Don't leave the car open, my alarm would come on randomly and would drain my battery. I got lazy and I felt comfortable leaving my car unlocked in front of my car. Sunday night, I left the car unlocked and some one stole my amps and sub.

So lock it manually if you have to.

Do you know where I can get a Part # or where this thing is located so I can order a new one?

The receiver is in your door handle (or door handles; they switched over to only one receiver sometime within the model run). Search the normal W203 forum, I think some people did have theirs replaced, and they might have discussed pricing.

Though the mods4cars module is a cheaper thing to get and a permanent fix. Plus gives you new features your car doesn't have in stock form.

all are cars come standard with it. Even my 1996 c220 had that feature. You can never get it to work because it requires the use of the IR sensor and it will not work in the sun.

Been so long, I forgot that it was standard, at least in sh*ttier form. With the stock, you hold down the unlock button until the windows come down. With the mods4cars module, you simply click twice and the windows come down (or up with two on the lock button). My ccoupe is different as far as the sunroof is concerned (I think they didn't make any allowances for the new panorama roof on the module). What I have to do is hit unlock three times, that tilts the roof, then once more, and sunroof and windows all come down.

I THINK that three hits on unlock will open everything on the sedan. Not sure about that, though.

As loudandheard said, the stock function is severely limited on range, even when working properly. With the mods4cars module, I can get everything down from across the parking lot at work. I don't want to sound like the Shamwow guy, but I really do like it.
