Check Engine Light On, Car won't move!
I started experiencing this yesterday when I went to the gym, it was hot here in Birmingham, AL. So I figured it just need to cool off. I was able to drive it off last night until this afternoon where I got stuck in the middle of the road and have to push my car to a parking lot.
Here's what I know of the symptoms so far, and yes, I've search but no specific that I can find.
- Check Engine Light on but car won't move
- Before the car completely dies earlier, I can hear a grinding noise
- I check on all my pulleys since I have the Eurocharged 185mm pulley set and they seem to be all working fine.
Any help would be appreciated since I'm gonna have to get this towed and I'm out of warranty
It sounds like big problem if that is the case. However, a $30 scanner at Kragen or any auto part store would tell you more. Get a scanner to read out the codes.

Can you start the car?
Can you shift into gear?
what is the error code?

Noted, I will get a scanner today and read out the codes. Car showing No malfunction on the screen.
Also another thing to add, I saw a cloud of dust yesterday like something burnt out, could I possibly burntout the clutch? As I read in another thread this can happen?
I'm afraid to even look at what dealership prices would be on replacing the OEM part.

What they quote me $7100 + tax

Of course I'm not gonna get it worked on by them just have them run the diagnostics.
Can I take this car to a transmission shop and have these worked on? I will have to shop around for prices to get my car fix from a reputable tranny shop.
Any suggestions or help will be much appreciated. Also how much should I be expecting? $7100 is way too steep for my pocket at the stealership.
If I am buying the parts online which website?
Thanks for all who helps and respond.

I saw their price for a remanufactured 722.6 torque converter for $365.
Also, what are clutch plates? Any other terms they also go by?
