a car.
No, I don't want one.

It's your car and you'll do as you like but I would take it off.

From the DA Calculator based on track information for that day on my 14.040 run... Thanks for the link C32AMG-DTM!

The DA worked out to 7439 feet above sea level...

Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
13.468 @ 103.043 MPH

This of course doesn't include the 15-20MPH headwind... Clearly I also had an advantage on the 5.0 GT a few days back due to being supercharged compared to naturally aspirated at higher altitude. At sea level I wonder how the race would have went.

No worries, gt4awd - once you posted your altitude, I knew it would be a significant difference. Keep fighting the good fight.

those dyno's are run in 3rd or 4th gear where its gear ratios are 1.69:1 and 1.32:1. There 5th gear is 1:1 but the stock gt's have a speed limiter in 5th so they cant do a full run in that gear, at least thats a few of the mustang guys are saying.

The gearing of the tranny is artifically mulitiplying the tq its putting down on the dyno. Unless you dyno the c32 in 3rd gear too. But most of us dyno in 4th gear where its a 1:1 gearing ratio, to reduce the influence of transmission on the dyno.

Yes, he was racing. We both hit WOT at the same time. Altitude impacts N/A a lot more than F/I, so that gave me an advantage. I'm running 185MM, so at sea level we would be very close in crank hp/tq specs...

Here's a dyno I did in 4th gear as TemjinX2 just explained... Since then I have separated I/C system and put in TVT thermostat.

Dude.... a new car with temp tags..... prob not broken in yet so he's not going to rag on it.
Those new mustangs are FAST stock high 12's easy, but you have to know how to drive it.
Unless your car is a mid-high 12 sec car he wasn't racing.

Of course, driver, road conditions, traffic all play into these "kill" stories.

Don't get me wrong I'm an amg fan through and through, but there are some very fast mustangs running around, and this latest iteration is to be taken seriously... especially with a few cheap bolt-ons.

See below
12.3 with cold air and exhaust and drag radials..... very strong.

##

Wow 11's with an auto with bolt-ons.

This is 1988 all over again with the next iteration of 5.0.

If I wanted a drag track toy, I'd get a used new style 5.0 to play with and beat the heck out of it.

<<<<<again don't bash me, I LOVE AMG....... but you have to give props where they are deserved>>>>>>

I'm hoping my clk will run like that after a blower install, and I dig those really fast mod'd c32's running around.

It is a high 12 second car with the modifications I have. Probably won't happen at my altitude though... Thinking around the best I could run is a low 13. I'm going to try drag strip again next Friday, and really hoping the conditions will be good.

Yes until then a blower is installed on your CLK55, you will dig those really fast mod'd C32's. But only until then. (Need to talk to some guys here like BlackBenz (CLK55) or Mike (C55)), but again until then and remember it will not be "bolt on"

So what if that mustang is faster....the AMG is a nicer car in the end.

One could throw a 500hp engine in a p.o.s car and run great 1/4 mile times, but the car is still a p.o.s.

I think it boils down to a fine balance of class and power....both of which the amg has.

also, if those 1/4 mile numbers are so important, i'd just buy myself a crotch rocket and call it a day. Nothing says suck it quite like a 155hp to the rear wheel on a bike that weighs around 450 pounds. Haha.

A friend bought the new 5.0 in the beginning of the summer and his best run was a 13.2 at 108... this is with 2300-2500 DA. With OP's mods and a little bit of underestimation from the Mustang driver this story is spot on.

He was probably thinking to himself: "oh I'm going to teach that little C-Class a lesson"

Nice kill!

Someone who knows what they're talking about... Thanks! My areas DA typically works out to nearly 8000 by the way.The guy was cool, and obviously excited to be in the quick race. When I let off, he caught up, honked, and we both waved to each other. Fun times... Reminds me of the Corvette I raced when the C32 was stock. 90's model looked brand new. Dead even off the light up until 65 shift where the C32 started to pull slightly. He said, "I didn't see it was an AMG", LOL...

If you think the "new" 5.0 mustang is a POS, you need to test drive one in a racing situation. This is not the 1980's technology 5.0 gen1...... this solid axle car will run very well on a road course, drag strip, and autocross for low $$. I'm not going to try and change anyone's perception or slant on an MB board about a ford, but you should have an open mind when it comes to performance cars. I like anything different, fast, and that performs no matter what brand.

Where the hell do you live, man? I thought our DA is bad enough.

Nice runs though! and completely believable with your mods.

Am I missing something this is first I heard this
Unfortunately pretty much most high power mustangs lose traction due to not so great grip(due to suspension) and way to much torque...either way nice kill!

High altitude region of New Mexico.

We slowly went off the line and upped throttle. Don't think traction was an issue for the mustang.

We only get 91 premium in my area. The regular is 87.
.either way nice kill!
Thanks, LOL.
