2011 Mustang GT vs C32
Had a quick race with a brand new white 5.0L mustang GT 412HP and 390TQ. I was driving spirited through some traffic, and passed the older guy with his wife who still had temp plates on the car. Mile or so down we ended up side by side in lanes at a red light. Both of us went easy off the light slightly upping the throttle towards 30MPH where we eventually hit WOT. At that time had around a half car length on the GT. Stayed at that point 30-60MPH with even acceleration. After shifting the C32 started to pull up to around two car lengths at 85-90 MPH. The GT gave up, and I let off... Fun race!

It was a race I needed too after hitting up the drag strip quarter mile and only running a 14.040 best. Some serious head wind that night, around 20MPH, and I was disappointed with the times ran. The GT is rated at 13.2 quarter mile, and considering the run we had I should definitely hit in the low 13, or high 12 on a good day.

whats your elevation? if your in a higher elevation, your going to lose some time on the quarter. You should be able to do mid 13's stock. With your mods you should be able to do high 12's, before heat soak sets in.

+1, at sea-level in IN I regularly run in the high 12s on street tires (PS IIs) , so you should be in the consistent 13s.

The drag strip is over 5000ft above sea level. What kind of power loss should I expect? We compared cars running that night, and they were all a second or so slower than normal. The wind was terrible... I have video of a few runs that I never uploaded. Mostly all you can hear is wind.

the elevation just kills the power since there's less air up there. The heat soak is pretty much killing your times more then the elevation though. I would suggest upgrading the heat exchanger asap.

Use this:
http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...calculator.php
While most adhere to the "you ran what you ran" philosophy, given your rather extreme elevation, it would be useful for you to see what your "corrected" times/traps would be for a better idea of what your vehicle's performance at sea level *might* be equivalent to.

oh shoot you're right here in san jose bro! well we're doing a photoshoot under the golden gate bridge for some european cars (my friends csl m3 look-alike and my other friends custom new 525i) and we were gonna mess around on the drive back and race a couple times and i'm attaching my ipod (since it has a built in camera) to the front of my c55 to record his exhaust and the race. i've never driven against any m3 before so i'm looking forward to it. if you want, or if anyone you know wants to, you're more than welcome to join us at that fort below the bridge from 8:30-12 in the morning. i know no one with an amg! all my friends have bmw's.

that's absolutely right. you can have all the power in the world but with no traction, a car can be the slowest thing in the world. pretty much....i wish i had wider than 245's on my rear tires

"Heavily modded" is quite a subjective statement. Are you going by number of components changed/altered? Or are we talking dollars invested? I wouldn't consider changing/adding 4-5 things "heavily modded" but that's just me. Either way, it still needs to be driven - so I find the speed with which a milestone like this has been reached is impressive. Your comment seems to downplay the achievement. As a point of reference - to the best of my knowledge, no AMG has run 9's... from V8 Kompressors all the way up to the V12TTs and everything else; many of which have been much more heavily modded and raced for years, vs. some of these brand new Mustang GTs that have a couple hundred miles on them. And, to address the inevitable reply - yes, at the end of the day, it's still a Mustang and not an AMG - I realize that. I'm just impressed by the performance.
I wasn't disputing that, but that wasn't really my point either. I was just impressed that a brand-new car, rolled out of a dealership and with a couple subsequent bolt-on mods and spray is running in the 9's and 10's. Not exactly the same as a 10 year old civic with a built motor, huge turbo, standalone engine mgt, stripped interior, and all the requisite supporting mods, etc etc....
Anyway, sorry I mentioned it.

its mostly the demographics and availability of parts that is probably the reason why you dont see many AMG's in the 9's. Most people who buy amg's tend be older and just buy them because its the top model.
The of majority of people that buy mustangs especially the 5.0L version are into straight line racing and quartermile times. Hence why you still see live rear axels on mustangs because they perform better in drags then independent suspension would.
Hence you'll see more people and companies developing parts of quarter mile times and people reaching those levels. Just a greater sampling of dragsters and part manufacturers.

you only needs chips on cars where the ecu cannot load new fuel maps. Our cars can load new fuel maps from a tuner, so all you would need is a tune. maybe if you headers, tune and intake you can probably get 50hp. But i would ask hooleyboy. He pretty much did ever mod possible on the c55.

michelin ps2, euro smoked side markers, black series badge, 20% rear 36% front tinted windows, /////AMG nurburgring sticker on driver side rear quarter window and mbworld.org on passenger side.
You mean like an actual black series AMG badge?
