...kidding aside, I know of no engineers (mechanical, electrical, civil, etc.) who would be qualified and capable to work for a large corporation at the age of 16, save one: software engineer. Even so, she must be extremely talented to land a highly-competitive job at 16; good for her

If she retired a couple years ago and has been pursuing some charitable interests since, it's a fair guess that she cashed out a lot of equity/options prior to the market souring in mid-late 2008... so that helps. Funding 70 years of retirement (especially when giving chunks away to charity) will require a surprising amount of capital and fiscal discipline, but it sounds like she may be already blessed with both. The most difficult challenge for many extremely talented people when retiring young is letting their human capital erode wastefully. Often they cannot help but keep a few irons in the fire, if for no other reason than to stay sharp and mentally engaged in an industry/sector that they're intimately familiar with.
Anyway, great story - inspiring; thanks for sharing RLx02.

lol I find it funny the level of interest over what this girl does. I hope its more for the puzzle rather than because of age or background

Yes.
Why do you think I was shocked as you and in disbelief lol. I knew she was making very good money but not enough to drop 3+ mill on a penthouse.
Then again, she doesnt buy anything expensive, drives a cheap japanese car and doesnt go on outlandish vacations. If you saw her in person you would think she was just a college girl.

I couldn't resist replying as well. Doh.
Anyway, if she dropped 3mil on a condo, then she really isn't that smart.

Then again, I wish I had that kind of money to spend on a pad in the sky.

Capital must be propelled by self-interest; it cannot be enticed by benevolence.

Its a penthouse and she doesn't spend any money on depreciating assets, which is why she drives an economical Japanese car. Also, doesnt flaunt at all except save for some of the pictures of her place. Like I said before, I had NO idea she was loaded like that...just assumed she made 6 figures and up.

She could have invented/patented some sort of hardware component/chip for processors that has become a backbone for modern computer production or cell phones. Something like that would definitely make her Bill Gates style rich overnight. Good for her! She shouldn't retire, she should continue on contributing with whatever she did to get her where she is.
