For a nice 996TT "with relatively low mileage and good documentation" I'd say you're realistically looking at $45k and up, unless you find an absolute steal.

Still a low cost of entry into a tremendous sports car... been watching that market myself.
I did mean 996TT. There was a local Seal Grey 2002 with 32K miles for sale for $39K. The guy had it for sale for 3 months at least, before the listing was taken down (I hope it's not sold yet ). There was another local black one with 46K miles for $37.5K last month (this one was sold I think).

I think Porsche prices in UT are not the strongest, hence the lower prices in comparison to other areas in the country. Those weren't advertised on Autotrader to my knowledge (did searches on Autotrader). A lot of people here drive Subies, Evos, SRT4s, 350Zs, Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers, Vettes (you catch the drift) as their performance cars. I have only seen a couple of different 911TTs (996 and 997 combined).

If you're into that market and a good one came up for sale locally, I can let you know if you want! I am really hoping to get into one of those in the next couple of years (savings permitting!)

Quick question for you who are in the market and have been doing some research, does 996GT3 have stronger resale than 996TT? Isn't the TT more expensive than GT3 when they were both new? I saw a nice silver 2004 GT with 16K miles for $58K

Thanks for the offer! I might take you up on it... Spring of '11 is likely the timeframe I'd be looking to pull the trigger; we'll see. I've been watching autotrader listings, ebay (although not as much), and for sale forum postings from sites like 6speed. Anyway, I'm in the same boat - looking seriously at the 996TT/GT3/GT2 as my next vehicle acquisition.

Yes, I've noticed that too - I think the GT3 holds it's value very well. That said, they were roughly the same cost new, and if you only compare the GT3 against market values for 2004 and 2005 Turbos (the only corresponding model years), they're pretty comparable. Remember, though, the 996TT can be as early as 2001, whereas the 996GT3 is no older than a 2004 model.

In the end, they're very different cars... I go back and forth for which one I think I'd enjoy more. In the end, though, the Turbo is the more practical of the two, IMHO.

TemjinX2 - sorry for the OT.

will give a update soon. I'm trying to get a dynojet run too, to make it a more apples to apples comparison. Since the gintani dyno is dyno dyanmics.

Ok i have a update. I told jeremy my story about my engine and my ec tune. After telling him my story he was afraid to run a base line with the ec tune. So he did a baseline with just his basic ecu flash.

I would say my car was probably at 275whp on his dyno dyanmics since i was putting down 300whp on a dyno jet. With just his base line file i was putting down 321whp on a dyno dyanmics, which is close to 353whp on a dyno jet.

Anyways, i still ran lean at 5500rpm to 6200rpm. The gintani guys concluded I had a dying fuel pump. They see it often on the e55's they tune. I upgraded to a walbro fuel pump. It helped with the lean but i would still run lean every once in awhile.

They took a look at my injectors on my new motor. They found out the injectors on my new motor were bad and they swapped out the injectors with the ones from my old engine. Unfortunately my previous tuner damaged 2 out of the 6 injectors. So i only have 4 out of 6 injectors are good.

Jeremy was still able to get 338whp on a dyno dynamics with only 4 good injectors. Which is close to 371whp on a dyno jet. This is within line with other c32 owners put down with similar mods.

I'm going to have RC rebuild my injectors, I'll go back to jeremy to get it retuned once i get the injectors back, since i need the car this weekend for my buddies wedding.

So he rev limited my car to 6000rpm. Even in 6000rpm, the car runs like a beast. I spin from 1st gear through all the way to 2nd gear.

Jeremy at OE tuning and Alex at Ginatani definitely know there stuff and are the real deal. I'm happy with there level of knowledge and customer service.

My car was basically parked next too 1300whp turbo e46 m3's and 500whp e92 sc m3's. There mainly a m3 shop but i like there philosophy of diagnosing the problem rather then throwing money at it.

I'll try to get a dynojet run once i get the new injectors.

I would recommend Jeremy at oe tuning and Alex at ginatani to anyone in socal that needs a live dyno tune.

The only draw back is the fact there so far, but definitly worth the drive.

AS you can see from the fuel curves I went from running 14's afr to 12.5afr at the peak with my fuel pump and my original injectors. I'm much happier with my new fuel curves. I have a much better power band and my mpg increased as well.

Stout numbers,TemjinX2. Congratulations.

Had RC Engineering inspect my OE injectors some time ago. Several flowed substantially less than their alleged rate.
Next time you’re out Torrance way, perhaps we can again catch up.

its 396 at 43 psi...our c32's flow at 60psi. So its really 464cc/min at 60psi.

it was a aftermarket walbro pump, pretty much good for 500hp. I don't know how they wired it though. I didn't think it was possible but they were able to do it.

So that does that mean that the Eurocharged tune had nothing to do with the car running lean with the new engine?

It was the mechanical issue, wasnt it?

I basically ran the same mods on the powerchip tune going upwards of 135mph for 6months without any problems. In dec, I changed to EC mail in tune with the same mods and i blew my motor after 2wks of installation going less then 65mph.

Its not definitive but can be inferred.

The second motor i bought was in poor condition since they left it outside. There were a lot of parts that were rusted and sensors went bad.

Even with the fuel pump, i was still hitting 13's in 4th gear. It wasn't until i installed injectors, map sensor and fuel rail from my old motor that the afrs went down to 12's.

I'm not going to go in a whose tune is better. I'll let everyone decide for themselves. I would recommend people get a dyno tune, but if they decide to do a mail in tune, please get your car dyno'ed afterwards.

The injector issue seems more related to the condition of the new motor rather then old motor, since the new motor only had 60k and my old motor had 110k, but the injectors and other sensors from my old motor were in better condition.

Jeremy over at OEtuning is local to me, so it made things a lot easier. A lot of people PM'ed me all this drama about jeremy and Gintani, but at the end of the day they produced results.

Thats all I care about pretty much.

update...

I decided to go all out and just ordered the sl55 intake and new oem injectors from lein's link. I should get them around next week. Jeremy is going to hook it up with a free dyno retune.

I'll try to get dynojet numbers afterwards.

I have heard that Jeremy will give free dynos, and free custom tuning quite regularly.

Im sure there is no correlation between people posting negative Eurocharged threads and then Jeremy (the miracle worker) fixes everything for free

Most of his fanboys have a link to his website as their signature, and then divert the fact that he is a convicted drug manufacturer.

They will say 'I be hatin'"

I say "they be smoking too much of his hydroponic wacky tobacco"

Jeremy, the worlds best FREE tuner, just offer to be a fanboy and put down another tuner, and get his free "products" whatever they may be

Jeremey did not fix my car for free. I paid $1k for the dyno tune and paid to ginatani $800 for the fuel pump, them diagnosing my fuel issues and them reinstalling all the sensors.

He offered a free retune since he wasn't happy with the tune yet since i only have 4 out of 6 good injectors. Hence why he told me to come back for a retune once i get the new injectors.

Since He was going to retune my car for free anyways, I decided just to get the sl55 intake as well and finish all the bolt on mods.

the important thing is your car is running great, and your happy with the outcome.
