Lightweight rims
Does anyone know what the stock 17" wheels on the C32/SLK32 weigh? On my Audi S4 the stock 17" wheels weighed 28lbs a piece! I have a feeling the AMG wheels weigh considerably less...
Thanks for any info,
Marc

Wheel and tire weights
I have some notes from last year that may interest you about wheel weights.
Stock AMG 17 inch split spokes, with the usual Pilot Sports:
Front 27 lbs wheel + 21 lbs tire = 48 total
Rear 27.5 lbs wheel +21.5lbs tire = 49 lbs total (data point #1)
Rear 28 lbs wheel + 22 lbs tire = 50 lbs total (data point #2
This wasn't my data , but it apparently jives with what we know for sure.
Most good 18in wheels will be well below these static weights, however when you move from a 17 to an 18 you will have to combat the "mass being further out on the rim" aspect. i.e. an 18 must weigh less than a 17 to give same performance (HP wise).

The general formula for rotational inertia is mr^2. Even though your wheel is marginally lighter, you have to factor in the extra mass of the tire along with the longer radius. I'm guess the answer is no.
