Engine got shuts-off

Hey guys, I am really sorry but I got my a** kicked by M3 in 3 secs last night.
Engine got shuts-off right away after I fully stepped on the accerelator.
I kept stepped on the accerelator but no response, I realized engine is off.
So I parked my car on the side of the road (Glad it was downhill) and started engine and thanksfully it started again.
I still have no idea why it happened.
Please reply me if you know why it caused.

Just to repeat...you are saying the engine just shut off on you while you weee racing last night?

Does this continue to happen or just a one time thing? (wither way it sucks when lining up to a BMW).

Did it go into limp mode or totally off?

I was going about 60mph and m3 was tailgating me. As soon as m3 changed lane and stepped on his gas, I stepped on my gas hard and engine was off.

Not sure if these cars have these but it could be your Crankshaft Position Sensor is going bad.

I thought the CPS kept you from starting your car....not shutting off while driving? Not sure though.

Well in the Chrysler Crossfire the CPS tends to be a faulty piece that will literally cause the engine to shut off in the middle of driving or when you are sitting at a traffic light. I would know, it happened to me and I posted a DIY over on the crossfireforum.org on how to fix it.

I know the C32 has a CPS for sure because it has the same engine (except supercharged) as the 3.2 liter NA in the Crossfire.

Wow, that's kinda scary. Yeah, we do have a CPS and I have already replaced mine, but it would only not start after I turned the car off. I didn't know they actually shut off the car while driving. BTW, I read once that if you're having CPS problems, you can pour water over it to cool it off, then your car will start again. BUt it's not that expensive to fix either.

I'm thinking CPS as well. Had the car shut off on me, but after about 20 minutes the car started right back up. I was able to drive home and I let it idle and it shut off by itself. It seemed like the CPS would heat up and shut off. Simple solution would to replace the Crank Positioning Sensor, if it is in deed faulty.
