Funniest ****....my wife drives her company car (Subaru Outback) and I have the C32. Well I needed to get some wood from Home Depot....so I needed the outback. She has NEVER driven the C32 before, but she needed to go to the store....got pulled over and was given a ticket on the way to the store which is right down the street.....she told the cop that this was the first time driving this car and she didn't even know where to see on the dash the speed she was going....cop wasn't having it...HAHAHAHA

I've NEVER received a ticket in the C32 and have gotten in many races....talk about strange! I'm knocking on wood right now....

Hmm. This will be my first summer with my c55 and I'm worried about what kind of trouble I will get myself into. Do you know of any good detectors you'd recommend?

Valentine 1 OR the Escort REDLINE (which is actually superior on the K and Ka Bands to the Valentine 1). Over $400 bucks for each one. I own BOTH and also had the 9500 ix . The Valentine 1 is probably the one I'd spring for.

Laser: Laser Interceptor (still legal in most states) is a far superior Laser jamming unit (and also a parking distance detector)

hey glen, word of warning....

My brother is a cop here.

Their radar and laser guns that they got last year has a new feature that reads and throws a light if the signal is tampered with.

He sees that, and its instant - your fu$% Many states such as IL have now even made active jamming a FELONY. Not worth it... Apparently they can also get you with interfering with the duties of a police officer with posession of such unit.

I asked him about the Interceptor unit, and he was like oh is that the one thats also a parking sensor? LOL Apparently they all got trained on them, what to look for mounting etc...

** Jake, I am well aware of this and DO not have a Laser Interceptor. Note that the guns do NOT all know if they're being jammed and even if, the LI can be instantly turned off so that they can get a read on you (after you've reduced speed.) I see cars all the time on the road with them. Note that they are however legal in MOST states!!! ***

Plus, they are all trained to hit " CTR" (center mass) initially and then move out to the sides to headlights. No front plate means tougher to get and there's also VEIL, a legal coating that reduces Laser distance by at least half. Veil plus no front plate plus a Valentine 1 gives you a better than average chance of not getting targeted until you can scrub off some speed. I pick em up on 53 all the time.

Note that the cops ain't no saints on this. I've seen them targeting traffic through their side view mirrors which is NOT an accepted or authorized use of the gun.

Ask your brother which gun he's using. There's a LOT of them out there. I'd love to know...............(probably the LTI TruSpeed)

Is he local or ISP??

I see more donut chompers out on the CA highways than ever before......they need to protect their nice little 'retire at 55 pensions' by writing more tickets. State should fund their retirements by looking at cuts within like any legitimate business does.

I actually did a research paper WAY back when in college on speed limits and when they originated and why. Don't quote me on this because I don't have my paper in front of me and it's been YEARS since....but from what I remember the speed limit of 55mph was set during the oil crisis and it was said the 55mph was the best speed to travel for gas mileage. It hasn't been changed since because the local police and state departments realized how good of a revenue maker this was for the city.

Why is it that we can produce cars that are street legal and can go 150+mph but yet the local speed limit on a high/freeway is only 55!??? From what I can recall my paper was 20 pages long (senior research paper) and I got an A on it. I should try and dig that up because it was a great piece of work/research.

They claim safety but why is the average speed on a normal high/freeway 65-75mph??? It's actually the slow/older crowd that causes more problems because then people have to go around them and it is worse than an even flow of say 65 or 75mph.

If I find that research paper I will post it on here as a thread....it was full of details and facts that I can't recall right this second.

+1 ^^^, would love to read it!! IN addition, Red Light cameras are also there for Safety purposes, when in fact, incidents at intersections with THEM have actually increased due to the cameras. Sure, we know what its really about. $$$

See this from Trapster: Survey Shows Drivers Distracted by Speed Cameras | Trapster.com
thenewspaper.com
Driver distraction from presence of speed cameras may have caused thousands of UK accidents since 2001.

Jake, LIDAR is NOT a mix of radar and laser, its pure laser (light) with no radio wave component. Theres many brands out there, see if you can get a pict. If he's only 10 feet from your car and shoots the bumper or the front plate, the V-1 wont go off. BUT in the real world, they're hitting you from about 1000 feet or so and the V-1 WILL pick that up. I've been hit as far as 2000 feet on 53 and picked it up before he got a lock (with no front plate). Having no front plate and also using VEIL coating makes the odds much better for you since they're looking for "reflective" surface to get you. That can be front plate/headlights/fogs/chrome trim. Plus, knowing where they sit and using a Cheetah helps too for redlight cameras and known (and locked) speed zones. Note that color and type of car can make a big difference. Mounting makes a difference too. Never put the V-1 behind tint or tint-strip. Veil is perfectly legal as well.

The V-1 Rocks on Laser (the V-1 has a distinctive sound on Laser that jumps out at you). BUT the Redline is better on K and Ka bands (radar bands) which are the most popular being used in your area.
