I think you will need to cut the rear buper skirt for the tips to clear.

The thing is on my C320 I noticed the Exhaust pipes are going into the downward direction, I wanted to know whether that makes a difference.

The tips fit fine. There is no problem with clearance. Very easy install.

C320-Sport....

Where are you getting the AMG tips? I did not know you could get tips alone? Or am I wrong and misunderstood your inquiry.
I would be interested in doing the same thing if you can get the tips alone and if they fit without cutting the rear apron...which is usually the case.
Thanks

There are no "AMG tips" for the W203 to replace the downward pointing ones on your standard muffler. You must buy an entire AMG rear muffler which has chrome tips welded on and replace the OEM muffler with the AMG exhuast muffler. There is no cheap way out of this one. If the AMG is too much go with Eisenmann or Supersprint.

That is what I thought, but maybe there was something out there that I missed. But, it seems like you need to cut the rear apron for the muffler to fit - unless they are bent downward like the factory exhaust. Seems like all the aftermarket ones go straight out and therefore you need to cut the rear apron.

You are correct. Performance Products sells the entire muffler. When I looked at it last, it still looked as if the rear apron would have to be modified a little. The stock muffler's tips (Called finsihers by AMG) are angeld down where as the AMG muffler has tips that are larger and come straight out. I think this would put the tips either too close or in the way of the rear apron.

C 320-Sport saw these on another forum (MBNZ.ORG) where someone took them off a C32 for some reason....whether the guy cut them off or what I don't know...he wouldn't send any pics - but wanted $100.

I wanted to buy the tips from a guy that bagwell was referring to in the mbnz.org forum. But if I have to cut out a piece of my bumper I dont think I want to do it. Thanks for your input guys.

You dont have you cut out a piece of your bumper. It hard to get tips. I actually have the full exhaust where I did cut the tips off of. My friend bought it for me for a present but it didnt fit....unfortunely. So I just used the tips. The cost Im not sure. If anyone buys the tips then just install it. It fits fine and will look great. I am probably going to buy a Brabus ML exhaust and use the tips from that. I almost did a few months ago and I regret not doing it. Next time I have a chance I will.

to BrabusCClass:

Nice rear view of your C-Class! What AMG tips are those? They remind me of the ones from the C36 AMG muffler. So, you actually cut those tips off an AMG muffler and attached (welded?) them on. Did you bend the OEM downward pointing tips up or cut them off? Is there actually a muffler on the passenger side or just an illusion?

to C 320-Sport:

You have been posting this topic on every Mercedes Board on the net and now you chicken out of doing the upgrade becuase you have to cut the plastic bumper a little. Thanks for wasting our time! Cutting the lower rear valance is usually what the tech or muffler shop does during install. If cutting the valance makes you squeamish you are not up for this part either - To add an AMG or aftermarket sport muffler with chrome tips you have to cut the OEM pipe between the muffler and resonator and disgard (trash) the OEM muffler. I guess your car will remain stock and plain! Good Luck!

E55 KEV, I did use an older AMG muffler for a C280K or C280 and noticed the muffler did not fit. I cut the tips off (ouch) and welded them on. The right side has no muffler. Just pipes but what is odd is that the tips are resonated and create a unique throaty deep sound. Very interesting. Sounds really good, even my dealer and service dept agrees. I have a thread on how to do this under emblems if you are curious. https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...0&pagenumber=2

BTW I cut the old tips off and trashed them. I had this exhaust done while I had the stock sports package bumpers and I didnt cut anything. It fit fine...but I know that the sports package has different front and rear bumpers so maybe it wouldnt fit on a car without sports package. I dunno.
