Late night modification... Been wanting to try a blacked out grille since installing the front lip spoiler. Cleaned with rubbing alcohol 90%. Slight sanding with 630 grit. I masked off three rows of the chrome lining along with the vertical center. Used Dupli-color automotive black paint and clear gloss. Four layers each. Removed masking on chrome before applying clear gloss. Was going to do more clear coats, but it's late and I have work tomorrow morning... How does it look?
I'm not a fan of aftermarket grills on the C32, so yes I think your small mod looks good

I like it, I agreee that aftermarket grilles don't look too hot on the "regular" W203 front end. I had the chrome part of the grille on my old C230 painted flat black and I really liked it over the CL style grille.

I think the CL center star is too large for our front end. It stands out a lot. After adding the lip spoiler the CL grille seems to fit in better. I'm considering repainting the OE grille once again. More of a charcoal black to match better with the carbon fiber. Solid black looks good, but I prefer how I set the chrome strips. My friend has the CL style in black which looks nice. I'll update with some daytime photographs tomorrow!
