I always have thought that myslef as Ford uses the VERY SAME Bosch pump in lightings and they NEVER go bad
My question for you is, how can you mount it verticaly as there is simply NO room
Although I still agree with you my friend
PS: I did mine in less tha an hour as well. It really isn't that hard guys. Pain in the *** yes, difficult no.

anyway, I mounted mine as vertical as i could. The problem was that the oem hose wasn't long enough to accomodate the 90 degree position. I also recall having alot of room. as far as repositioning the pump, I am almost positive that I used only one of two holes from the original mount position and used a self tapping screw for the other to hold in place after turning it up to almost 90 degrees. (did this a few years back....sorry for my poor recollection.)
TO THE OP , the best tip is to use either the smallest c-clamp or vise grip to remove those PITA hose clamps. and 2 wine bottle corks to prevent coolant loss.

So, I did it. Talk about no-space-to-remove-clamps-hell, but after like 2 hours I managed to get them off. Coolant all over the place, I guess it was still under pressure. Anyway, I installed the pump, filled up the coolant, and let it run for a while. The car feels quick, and no loss of power so far, but there's not any sound from the pump after I shut off my engine. Maybe it's the circuit breaker? Anyway, the old pump looked like it's been in there for the 80k miles on the car so far, so it can't hurt to have switched it out with the new and improved Bosch HD version

Replaced fuse 5 in trunk and 51 in engine, but still no sound from the pump. If I take it out for a hard spin tomorrow, and it goes limp, I'm done with this car. Had it for 7 months and no mechanic can figure out what's wrong.

the pump only stays on for a few seconds after you shut off the car and it isn't that loud maybe have a friend stand in front of your car b 4 shutting it off. if the pump isn't working then you will definitely still have the same symptoms. don't give up on her just yet.....you know that when you get her runnin' right, your koolaide smile will return keep us updated

So hows is the car? i'm having this problem, been told to bleed the coolant properly and get all the air out of the system.
This S/C cutting out is really PITA

I didn't bleed the system, I just drained it when I removed the old pump since it was hard enough to get it off, trying to keep the fluid in the system would have been near to impossible. After I put the new one in, I just topped off the coolant, and it's been good since.

Obviously for someone just doing maintenance this doesn't apply.... for anyone doing this as a performance upgrade, do the intercooler radiator (heat exchanger) at the same time and remove the bumper, it looks heaps easier to get at the pump.

True, but you would have thought they could figure it out when you tell the mechanic you suspect the IC pump. But I guess that would hurt their pride if the customer actually pointed them in the right direction.
