LED license plate lights

I had these on m C32 for three months without any issues
took them out and put on my E55

All the drop in lights burn out eventually, and if they dont burn out they start throwing errors. I had one start throwing errors in 2 weeks, and another set that lasted 3 months before they needed repair.
If your handy with a soldering iron you can get maybe 9 months out of each set before they become unrepairable. The heat generated by the resistors (to fool the ecu into thinking they're normal lights) will desoilder the lights. The fix being to solider them back on. Eventually the copper in the circuit board lifts, then you need to buy a new set.
My recommendation is to check ebay and get the led lights that replace the whole light fixture. Or our local classifieds, their is a sale going on now.

I don't get it. Why would someone want to light up their license plate like some sort of billboard?To me, it looks like someone trying to give their car the South Florida Latino pimp look.

i bought the leds ones the built in heat sinks. buy the ones with the heat sinks, because the resistors do generate a lot of heat. I've had them for about 6months, seems ok. There about $32 on ebay.

The point is that, license plate LED's are odd. Why advertise your plate with brighter lights? So the cops can run your plates from a further distance? Hmm?

leds give it a new look. there bright but they also have a very small viewing angle compared to the halogen bulbs so only the first two letter and last two letters are really bright...

Scott your right on point, its tacky but it fits in with the miami lifestyle
The fact that it lights up my plate for all to see is not a issue to me at all.

I didnt take it offensive btw cuz its mostly true, lot of hispanics around here. I have nothing against them and actually I DO rather have my license plate BRIGHT *** **** because believe it or not that puts a cop's psychological state of mind that you arent trying to hide anything.... which is ... completely wrong
