what jake was referring to was machining down the oem pulley not the c3. that was built from scratch as thats why they last as long as they do, but even a c3 will eventually wear out.

2002 C32 1987 190E 2.3 334K miles and going
My first generation C3 pulley is three and a half years old and had 3 bearings
replaced. First one was what the C3 pulley came with. I can't remember what brand the second replacement was but didn't last too long. Current one is NSK but may need another replacing hmmm. The rest of the idler pulleys have been replaced once. I got 104K plus on the 2002. Completely satisfied with the Code 3. But who knows...

I don't think this pulley is meant to replace anyones Code3, but more as an option for those looking change their stock pulley.

good info here guys....

we should have more details on the pulley very soon. As im sure you understand, we don't just make something and release it to the wild! We are car guys just like you are, and if we wouldn't put it on our cars, it sure as heck isn't going on yours!

But....for those impatient people.... we will have some details about the pulley in our monthly newsletter that comes out the beginning of the month. You can sign up for the newsletter on the front page of our website. (mid right side)

sure, and with the C32 we can ship you a remote tuning cable and take care of the tuning in the comfort of your house without shipping the ecu. We tune all over the world on a daily basis...

I have successfully milled down my pulley even more! i was shooting for 65mm, but it was my first time lathing anthing and i did it with a quick 30 minute lesson. therefore i accidently went down to 51mm. at first i was scared that the belt was going to slip and the pulley would fall apart. but after all the pulley is holding up fine under all gears and full load and there is no slippage! the car pulls and immense amount more and im getting it tuned for the new size.
heres some pictures of the pulley

51mm will increase boost dramatically! Is that even safe? Hopefully a type lol

And I haven't hooked it up to a boost gauge to see what I'm running but I will say that I will need a new bearing soon. The car pulls like an airplane. I need to get it tuned asap though. But everything seems to be fine. But I'm not going to just go about without a tune

Wow! Yeah, a tune ASAP is definitely needed for that small of a pulley.

With my 65MM pulley I top out at 18psi, any clue what a 51MM pulley is going to produce?

Great job, but what about the V-grooves to match the pulley to the belt? Won't you need all the friction you can get.

Actually, the tensioner will adjust to the new size making it tighter

a car.
So a stock pulley is 73.6MM and makes 14.5 PSI, my Eurocharged pulley is 64.7MM and makes 18 PSI. That's a difference of 3.5 pounds of boost and only 8.9MM decrease in size. You've shaved off another 13.7MM for a total of 22.6MM decrease in size from stock. I think you're going to need more than just a tune if you don't already have supporting mods like cooling, intake and possibly fuel delivery. Something tells me you might be above the 20-21 PSI you're estimating.

Not trying to be a Negative Nancy, I love seeing someone think outside the box, I just don't love seeing someone melt their engine.

It does not look like the belt will even go down inside the grooves. The belt probably just rides on top almost like if the pulley was cut smooth all the way across.

So from a stock pulley of 65+mm to 51mm is a 1/2" or more removed.

Your absolutely correct. I'm going to my local tuber today soon to find out what exactly needs to be done. I have a heat exchanger but no other mods except for the eurocharged tune. The tune from Jerry was the tune for the c3p pulley because mine pulley on the car at the time was around the same size.

Yes, but the pulley must engage the belt at the ribs, not set on top of it.

My thoughts exactly. He needs to cut V-grooves in the pulley.

Here's a link to a photo of the grooves: http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/...ulley-5-3-.jpg

I'm wondering what would happen if you have the 185 pulley and mill the stock s/c pulley down to around 69mm.

I had a 181 paired up with a custom 69 and it was violent. A 185 would be a tire roaster at any speed.
