C55 AMG Brake Caliper Cover

The AMG brake caliper covers have recently been stolen off of the rear two tires on my C55. I have gone to multiple dealers asking them where I can get new covers, but they have led me to dead ends. Some say that the brake covers are no longer made, and other dealers have told me that the covers are aftermarket parts that the previous owner put on. First of all, are the C55 AMG brake caliper covers actually covers, and were they put on at the factory. Secondly, where can I get more of these covers? They are silver with AMG written across them and seem to be made out of cast iron.

C55 brake covers???
Afraid not, C55's and C32's came with regular two piston brakes at the rear
No manufacturer would ever put on fake big brake covers (if that is what you mean?)
Who ever put brake covers on them, did so by their own choice.
They never came on the car and the dealer wont know what your talking about...

Somehow I have a feeling you are talking about these....

No, they are not put on at the factory nor are they a Mercedes part.

Maybe this will help clear things up. Here's a picture of what I was referring to as caliper "covers". The reason I thought that they were factory parts was because almost all of the C55s on google images have these brake calipers. Thanks again for the help.

The pictures you posted are of the stock C55/C32 4 piston FRONT brake calipers. There is no cover.....the caliper is made like that.

For the REAR, the stock C55/C32 2 piston brake calipers are unpainted and have the typical rough metal appearance over time.

You need to tell the dealer you need calipers not covers.
How did they manage to steal your brakes? Dont you need to stop the car?

Or what did they really steal?

Something tells me that you originally thought the front calipers (what you call covers) should also be on the back wheels (which they are not)

You do have brakes on the back? Correct?
If you want the same look in the rear as the front, then you need the rear 4 piston brake kit from the SLK55 which will involve trimming of the dust shield.

I have brakes on all four brakes, don't worry. When I originally got the car I could have sworn I had the 4 piston calipers on all four wheels (the silver ones with the amg emblem). Apparently I was seeing things, and they were only on the front two wheels to begin with. Once I noticed that they were NOT on the back two wheels, I thought that someone had stolen what I had thought to be brake caliper covers. I was confused because I had spoken with dealers that said they were actually covers on the caliper instead of the caliper itself.

That's weird, because there's a Renntech C55 around the corner from me and he has the 4 pot of the rear wheels of his car as well. I asked him if he had them put on and he said renntech did, he even said that renntech put a fully locking differential on his car. I didn't even know they made fully locking differentials.

I got my c55 about three months ago. Before that I owned a beautiful 2003 Pontiac Grand Am . Someone rear ended me and totaled my car so I ended up upgrading to an AMG... It's been in and out of the shop for a little bit now so I haven't had much time to get in to know all the ins and outs of the car, hence I made this thread with a question I had.

lol for people who know nothing about cars or the c55 (which many people underestimate) just tell them you pretty much went from a geo metro to an ls3 vette. how are you liking the 55 besides the little scare?

It's great! I love the car. It's a world and a half away from the old pontiac I used to own, and it has a good balance of brawn and brains for me. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to pay for a $400 speeding ticket so I haven't exactly gotten to open her up the way I'd like to, yet. I'm pretty new with AMG's and performance cars in general so i'm sure i'll be making good use of this forum. Thanks again for the help with brake caliper dilemma.

You can save $375 on that ticket by going to your local 1/8 mile track and get your fix.
