Finally did it

After 6 months with the car Ive decided to replace the head unit and get subs and an amp. I didn't want to lose the integration but the nav systems and the iPod integration left a lot to be desired.

I'm putting in a pair of shallow memphis 10s in the trunk so I don't lose space and arcaudio amps and hybrid technologies mids and highs throughout, also doing a new avic z120 head unit.

Am I going to regret it? I'm still nervous about it not being fully integrated but Im missing out on a lot of improvements in technology with what I have.

I welcome any input.

All the work and the custom head unit surround $800, also getting a backup camera, and the enclosure included in this price.

The unit is $1100 with a mail in rebate. I had the subs and the mids and highs from the truck I just sold.

oh okay that's cool. we just got done finishing up a system like that in an 03 c32, but we put the iva-w900. we've had bad luck with pioneer as far as reliability lately, but you should be happy.

Sounds like it will be a really nice setup. Ive always thought about ditching the stock HU and upgrading to something that has more functionality/works better. As of now I added a single sub and the sound is good enough but the stock head unit leaves alot to be desired. I would just be worried that I wouldnt be able to change the time or be able to use the volume on the wheel if I swapped it.

depending on the stereo, pac makes a module that allows you to integrate with the steering wheels controls. and do you have a factory navigation? there's a way to get it to play dvd's.

Is there a huge difference on the backup cameras? Should out be looking out for a specific brand?

not HUGE difference, just don't do something you have a bad feeling about. spend the money and get a Boyo since you're already spending the money on everything else

A few pictures, its raining outside, and its not the best spot to take pics in the garage.

Ill take some more when it stops, I am very, very happy with the sound, added stereo functionality and most of all a backup camera, I have peace of mind when backing up with my kids and their friends usually darting behind me in their bikes on the driveway.

XM/Sirius, Mini SD card as well as HD radio and Pandora make it a fun time while commuting now. The NAV system is also light years ahead of the OEM one as well.
