mbrace for C55 - what features are activated?
Being able to get mbrace activated for lifetime cost of something like $299 sounds interesting. However, it looks like older cars get fewer features than newer models. Anyone have it activated for a C55 yet? If yes, which features actually work?

Found the mbrace conversion number and called. Doesn't look worth doing for my needs, but if you're on the bubble they have a sweetener that includes a 6 month free trial and a $50 discount if you elect to keep it.
They say that this package is available only if your C55 is digital (vs analog), and they don't seem to be able to tell from the VIN. Hmmmm.
Even if our cars are digital, there are 5 features that can't be activated. These include the good stuff like auto door lock/unlock, remote vehicle finder, along with search/send and automated maintenance alerts and something else not memorable.
They reported 15 things that do work. These include automatic collision notification and stolen vehicle location assistance, as well as stuff you probably can better from your cell phone - roadside assistance, SOS emergency calling, crisis assistance service (help w/ routing), saferide (they'll call a friend if you can't drive), access to most of these services from your iphone or blackberry, and a 3 month free trial of embrace plus.
It might be fun the first time I called mbrace to have them call a friend to come pick me up at the bar because I'm not up to driving home, but I doubt that would work as well the second time. I decided to trade my old cell phone in for a new Android instead . . .

Digital? What the heck does that mean. I don't think they know either. Thanks for the info, but it definitely sounds like it's not worth it.

Just Kidding. All in all, sounds like a very expensive concierge service. I don't really understand why they can use it to have automatic collision notification and stolen vehicle location assistance but not support remote vehicle locater ???

Digital means the communications module in the car has been converted to digital for use on the current cell phone networks since analog is no longer supported.
