DEATH of the C32

i was surfing craigslist when i came across this post, which is really depressing when i look at my car, a C32 for 3950. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/ctd/2186246534.html Im tempted to buy just for spare parts the way the value is going down on these cars i think im going to turn mine into a go cart before i sale it.

Something is wrong there. The values have not dropped that much yet. Buyer beware!

+1, there's virtually no info on it?? Maybe its just someone "fishing" for an offer?? Could have "blown" engine? Who knows?? Salvage title?? Previous total loss???

Yup. I emailed them and this is what I just got back:

" The car it's still available, has 65,487 miles, automatic transmission. It's in perfect condition, no engine problems (6 Cylinder Gasoline), no accidents/liens/loans. Exterior no scratches, never been repainted, interior no rips/tears/stains, never smoked inside. I have all the car's manuals, 2 spare of keys, clean title, documents. This 2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C32 AMG was my son's car, he loved it very much, but he didn't enjoy it...He died in a bike accident 9 months ago and now...I don't need it anymore. It brings very bad memories to me and I want to get rid of it....The price is $3,900.00
Me and my husband travel a lot with our business and we want to make this deal through eBay's Vehicle Purchase Protection Program. I just need your full name, full shipping address, along with your home/cell # so I can open a case (with no further obligation or fees). eBay will contact you with all the Transaction/shipping details you will need.
We hope to hear soon from you."

Yeah, right.

read the description of the posts on CL. does it sound like something a woman would write up? as scott got in his reply, it said "Me and my husband travel a lot with our business...." so it's the woman that's apparently doing the sale. but if you guys get the car with the condition being in accordance with the description, serious power to it and i'd buy a lottery ticket. the guy that died i think was on the forums IMO because he was into his car, look at the grille.

That car is listed in every new England craigalist as well. Clearly by first glance a scam. If you really bought it... You are an idiot.

Obvious scam is obvious.

If you want to confirm the scam, email and say you are local to the area and would like to stop by to personally inspect the car. They will respond that it is at a different location or on the shipper's lot and unavailable. See this a lot on boattrader also.

LMAO.... It's definitely a scam +1

The scammers will use 4 equal sized pictures that are square like those, typically to hide the background of where the car is, and block the whole licence plate instead of just the numbers so you can see the state on the plate. I see cars posted all the time for phoenix and when you really take a close look at the background of the car its some where back east or different scenery than expected for your state and neighborhoods.

Also they will give you some story like that one, or they are going to Afghanistan etc to get you motivated to buy into their scam. Not only that they don't give you any contact info to verbally talk to them to ask questions. And always ask to see a car and its paper work before you even think about giving them $0.02

I look around on craigslist for cars all the time, and see tons of different cars and models setup the same way like this daily on CL that are scams, or spammers just looking for email addresses.

I hope you didn't fall for it...

+1, is this the same scam where you can give some guy in Nigeria or Somalia your bank acct # because his great great uncle was the President who happened to leave YOU 10 million dollars and you get to keep it all if you'll help him get it from the country?? HMM, thought so!! see www.419eater.com for a great solution to this
