NO Audio, NO CDC how do I determine HU or AMP
2005 C55
EPC lists as
Command APS
Audio 20 CD Radio, USA
CD Changer
I don't see anything about Logic7 or HK but it is an HK system.
BTW... I double posted this here and in the Audio section...
So I was driving this morning and realized the music wasn't on. Stereo was on so I figured I just turned it all the way down last night. I went to turn it up and nothing. tried tuning to different stations, still nothing. it would seek and find station but not play audio. switched from FM to AM to WB still the same. So I thought great my amp went out. tried to switch to in radio CD could change tracks but no audio still, switched to CDC, display said, NO CDC so that got me puzzled then went into audio settings, the options I had were fade, balance, treble, bass. didn't give me all my surround options. I had been thinking about upgrading to a command Head unit so if it is the HU then I have an excuse. Does this sound like issues with Head Unit or AMP? any suggestions on testing. would STAR diagnostics show anything?
Thanks in advance

+1 This has happened to me three (3) times during my ownership of the car. Totally random, doesn't seem to be related to ambient temperature at all. I will have the radio display working but absolutely no sound. Usually if I turn off the car and turn it back on it will begin working immediately. I listen to my radio every day multiple times so the fact that this has only happened three times in 10,000 miles of driving is somewhat reassuring. I wouldn't worry.

Will go out at lunch to check.
Lets say everything is working fine, and I want to use this as an excuse to get the command HU
I was checking out used Command units and I am finding a butt load of part numbers. I am specifically searching for facelift 203 units but here are some of the part numbers I have found.

A2038274842 - Looks like this came from a CLK

Curious why you want the COMAND HU? I would guess prices would be high and it's not that good anyway. If you are going through the trouble, why not just rip everything out and put in a more capable aftermarket unit?
I used to stay away from aftermarket electronics, but with the dash mount kits that are available these days, you can get a great unit and make it look pretty close to stock.

Because I would have to pull everything out, or at least head unit and amp and then rewire everything.
The wife isn't going to go for me spending $3K on a system. We just bought a new house and I just spent 8K getting my home theatre setup.
I found command head units for under a grand, even as low as $400

So just went out and no difference. drove to post office and then gas station. still no noise. I am going to determine what fuses to pull for HU and AMP see if I can do some sort of no power reset.
any more suggestions?

I don't think it was the amp anyway, because HU wasn't recognizing my CDC, and the Surround options weren't available when I hit the button with the musical notes on it.

It happened to me a few times over the summer while I still had my CPO warranty and I noticed it only happened when the car was in direct sunlight and it was hot out.long story short stealership said they couldn't replicate the issue and gave me the car back.i have a command unit and haven't had the issue since.

lol so many people have told me that. the reason why i haven't is because i already have two other cars at home (2010 gmc sierra full system sponsored by JL audio and bmw x5 see second sig. video) that have systems in them. i was thinking about fiberglassing an enclosure on the back left side of the trunk in that hole for a 12" but then every time i floor it or take a hard turn, i feel it. i'm keeping the car strictly for performance in other words. there's a new member on here who i met up with a few weeks ago who may be doing what i wanted to do in his c32 at our location pretty soon.

I disagree. I have yet to see an aftermarket radio that looks even close to stock or look good at all. Most have all kinds of stupid flashing or dancing annoying lights or complicated controls too. Good sound can be obtained with a factory radio. Of course that is more difficult with the HK system with the stupid fiber optic ring, but I had a very good sounding system in my old C230 with the factory radio that didn't have the HK system.

Amazing, this just happened to me two nights ago. The wife drove the car home on a 30min drive with no audio, same things you're saying. I go out to check it, turn the car on, same issues. I turn the car off, crank it back up and it starts working again. Hmmm

My wife's C55 just had this happen to her as well, has anyone figured out what the issue is? The weird thing is that this started happening after we had some rain, I wonder if it is just coincidence.

No sound coming from Radio...
Guys,
My car radio is behaving crazy... I have radio on, but no sound is coming from speakers. its been now 2 weeks since this started. sometimes it plays but only for few minutes and them the sound goes away.
Could you please help me on this?
Another issue is the hand break... I´ve replaced the rear hand break pads, but I cant feel it handling the car, and the sound of having the car parked in Park mode makes me sad. Is there an eficient way to have the hand break working properly?
thanks,
G

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
WARNING: BUMP OF AN OLD THREAD!!!
I had the no sound issue in my 32, a few times over the course of ownership. Last week, its happened three times. No sound.. display works fine and navigates fine(No voice). Goes through the menus fine. Happened after extensive driving, happened after a few miles of driving, happened on a sunday day, and today in the rain.
Any ideas on this?
Cycling the key about three times brought the sound back.
