Car wont start.. cranks for a sec then gets a grinding noise

I have a 2002 C32 with 115,000 miles. Just recently I have started getting a problem where the car will not start. The starter turns and the engine turns over but it will not fire. It will crank for a couple seconds then just stops, and sometimes a grinding noise will start, as if the starter is not fully engaged. After a few tries the car will start and run fine. It seems to be worse when the engine is warm, after driving.

I did receive a check engine light, and got a code P0335, so I replaced the CPS and the light went away but the problem is still there.
Please help

Do you have a camera that you can upload a video to Youtube with? I had an issue with my motor and posting a video here really helped solve the issue. Grinding could mean quite a few things.

Still sounds

like the crank sensor. Did you use one purchased from Autohausaz or the dealer?
If oem DIf not and you got it from autozone or other auto chain it is possible still the problem since they don't sell the real deal.
Did you index the new cps to the flywheel and the ECU?

The CPS is OEM. I have a second engine that I took it off of. I did not index the CPS, I didn't know I had to. How do you do that?

Unhook the

battery neg cable and let the ecu reset. Then unclip the cps and let it sit.
Rehook the battery. Reclip the cps. Start the car, slowly bring the rpm's up from idle to 2000 rpm over a period of 2 minutes. That will index the cps to the ecu
all fresh and friendly.
How does it start from cold, like in the morning?
