worth it to trade c32 for slk32?

I have a 2003 c32 amg 112,xxx miles, silver

Have the opportunity to sell it, and get a 2002 slk32 amg with 94k miles, black,

I like my c32, but I always liked the slk32 body in the rear, but the interior is old style and the key is not the smart key.

The blue book values for trade in are $3k higher on the slk32 compared to my c32

If I do get the slk32, I wonder if it is hard to sell.

My gf got an 04 clk55, and I have been driving that over the c32 because of the coupe thing....

anyone have input? I am aware the slk is a chicks car, but I am thinking of being able to not lose money on my c32 right now from when I bought it and coming up on the slk32 or possibly trading it in on a e46 m3

Save money?

do you mean downgrading as in the car itself, not the value or money?

downgrading in the car, forget the money. slk32's are rare and cool to me because i know what they are unlike the average driver, but you aren't going to be satisfied like you are in the clk.

haha yeah she does. All the w209 clk500's local were overpriced as well as the clk55's locally.

We found hers in TX. $13k for 2004 clk55 silver, fully loaded. clean title 88k miles
Best deal on a car I have ever made - below wholesale

But for the topic on hand.... should I essentially trade the c32 for the slk32?

selling my car above blue book of course, and buying the slk32 below trade in...

if you want a fast vert the 32 is the ticket. the one your looking at is a high mileage unit so bank some money for repairs. 275 rubber out back is a s big as you are gonna get without rubbing.
mid 11's aren't uncommon and mods are available. good luck with the swap

the center console is prone to peeling . not a big to fix. as for the top issues its all related to the hid cylinders and the repair kit is about 35$ for each cylinder. a diy job if you take your time

94K! That's an awful lot of miles to be getting into. Even if you are trading one with 112K. I'm sure you can find newer cars with less miles that will satisfy your coupe urge.

The problem is the R170 is a very ugly vehicle no disrespect to the owners here. Keep the C32 R171 SLK55 is a lot nicer and very fun, but it's still not a car I would want to own.

I dont know if I have a coupe urge, but I want to get into something comparable to the c32, and not have to spend any more money, nor finance a car.

I am finishing my last year of college and about to go to law school.

I get all my parts @ wholesale, and labor next to nothing, so I am not concerned about normal maintenance, bushings, etc.

I just needed input as the slk32 doesnt have a smartkey, and the interior is the old style.

But I do agree it may not be as nice looking as the r171, but I do like the rear of the r170.

Maybe if the headlight configuration was different in the front stock it would look way better.

I am just thinking in terms of resale. I will be breaking even on my c32, as I bought it at trade in a year ago, and I am buying the slk32 way below trade in. does that make sense?

How much would someone pay for a 02 slk32 94k miles?

BTW, I am for keeping the c32

in terms of resale a slk32 with close to 100k in miles is bringing in the 12 to 14 k $ range . in comparison a slk32 with under 30k in miles is bringing close to 22k to 25k$. as for the old interior theres a line of thought many haven't considered. the less electronic crap there is the less there is to go wrong!! no worries about seats draining the battery electrics to fail and expensive to replace. the car is very mechanical which means its easy to repair.
btw a proper slk32 with a c3 pulley cooling mods intake and a tune will ABSOLUTLEY destroy a c32 in a straight line or in the twists! will it carry you and your 2 drunken g/f? only if 1 is in your lap!
imo the looks are timeless. the headlights would be better if styled after the sly but it is what it is. what it isn't is a car with a nose that looks like squidward from spongebob !(r171!) with the top down i can store enough gear for a weekend getaway and with the top up i can pack my drag tires and tool in the trunk and go racing

headlights that are hid projector styles are all over bay and basically plug and play. audio 20 cd palyer is euro unit that is plug and play and ives you cd in the cabin. no smart key and no need to spend 200$ to replace it!

I personally would prefer a W209 or R171, but the SLK32 was definitely a neat car.

Back it up. There are only 2 slk32s on dragtimes.com that are faster than the fastest C32. I woudln't call it "ABSOLUTLEY destroy". I think you got carried away here. Just sticking up for the fellow C32 owners. What was your fastest time?

my personal best was 12.6 in mid june in 95* heat with a 2 yr old tune. never got to run it in the fall . the best c32 is a 12.3 by jake with every mod he could throw at it. tuned c3 pulley and intakes on a slk32 yield a 12.1 (bugging). not a single c32 even comes close. if you take the top times for each car the slk32 is 1/2 sec faster. a majority of the c32 times in the top 10 are 12.3 or slower. the slk32 times are 12.3 and faster. i stand by my statement

And your statement is "ABSOLUTLEY destroy"? A bit faster, maybe. ABSOLUTLEY destroy, not. Alan's 12.1 car is only 1 of the 2 that runs faster than Jake's or my car for that metter. There are no other slk32 posted slips that are faster that 12.5. You are dreaming. Buy yourself another slk32 and match my times first. Until then, I'll let others judge your statement.

I love the SLK32. And to boot, its one of the best values on the market right now. If you can find one thats been pampered and still in great shape, there aren't too many cars you can get with 349 HP for under $20,000. There was one up here, firemist red with 10,000 miles selling last week for $22,000.

ill take that challenge! im searching for another 32 as we speak and as soon as i find it my mods go on and ill hit the track. im hoping to have a 32 by timmayfest and im registered to run. only time will tell if the right car comes along
if 12.4 is the best you can do with headers, 181, tune , exhaust , intakes and a quaiffe i shouldn't have to much trouble! i see your best time was in november. what were your june times?

You must have been looking at the car from Phil Smart? They had that thing listed at over $30k, I thought they were dreaming... but looks like the car is gone now.

The other firemist red car was FS in Bellevue on consignment, its also gone. Strangely this car didn't have heated seats, and the car from Phil Smart didn't have Xenons.
