High Pressure Line in Power Steering Not Under Warranty for C55

Just got a call from the dealership. I have a leak in my high pressure line in my power steering and I guess they submitted the part to Mercedes-Benz and it was returned as not covered under warranty. They told me the low pressure line is covered but not the high.

Does anyone know why? Really aggravates me that my warranty doesn't cover this when its an obvious mechanical defect.

Dealer told me its regularly $600 for parts and labor but hes getting it down to $420 for me. That $420 I don't feel I should have to pay if I have a warranty because that's what the warranty is for IMO.

Can someone explain this too me please.

Thanks

I guess you don't have a bumper to bumper warranty.

I have the certified pre-owned warranty in which they have covered things like my seat heaters (twice) and they were going to cover it had it been the low-pressure line. So why would the low-pressure line be covered and not the high-pressure line?

The service tech couldn't explain it to me as he didn't know either. He said he submitted it to Mercedes and it came back as not covered.

How do you know if your high pressure line has gone bad?

A better question is, HOW does a line like that go bad? Is it rubbing on something?

The dealer told me it was bad, I'm assuming they were telling the truth.

i'm no rocket scientist, but when high pressure hose is leaking I usually try tightening the banjo bolts first. Hard to picture a high pressure hose going bad and not spraying your engine with fluid.

According to the dealer upon inspection during a Service B the hose was leaking. They topped me off last Wednesday and it was all gone yesterday morning, while I waited for the part to arrive.

Still my question exists that is this not covered under a certified pre-owned warranty?
