Sorry, I agree with dingle this time. The refrigerant charge doesn't need to be "topped off." If it is low, there is a leak. Period. Too much refrigerant (or oil for that matter) will cause poor cooling just as a low charge would. The system is designed to have the proper weight of refrigerant and will not operate as designed if above or below that weight. If you have to question this, you don't know enough about how the system works to be working on it.

He’s right. 90% of auto ac systems never leak. Topping off us a very bad idea..can harm the compressor by overcharging. If there is ever a problem, it’s not for DIY
