2 car dilemma

I am the ******** who managed to destroy 2 motors in my modded 2002 C32 (turned out to be leaking injectors) and I had to buy another car while I searched for a 3rd motor as they are rare in South Africa. I swore blindly that I would repair my C32 and sell it immediately as it was costing me too much money every month to keep running. I picked up a 2007 Chevy Lumina SS for $45k with only 28k miles on the clock, in immaculate condition and I was ok with it until AMG called me up and said my 32 was ready and please would I drive it for a week to make sure it has no oil leaks or rattles before they sell it for me on their showroom floor. I drove it 5 miles from the dealership and the IC pump went and that was it - I was now absolutely convinced of my decision to sell this bottomless money pit of a car, but that was 2 weeks ago and I don't want to give it back. The thing is this car fits me like a glove - I have always been and obviously still am absolutely in love with it. All my friends have remarked how happy I have been for the last 2 weeks and I just figured out why. I know this car is going to cause me more heartache and huge repair bills, but I cannot bare the thought of selling it and driving my big lumbering Chevy for the next 3 years. To make matters worse this little rocket hammered an 2011 M3 coupe DCT on Friday night - it has come back from AMG with a new lease on life and goes like hell. My brain says stick with the Chev - it won't break or cost much to run and it has low mileage, but my heart says the C32 is the one and only. Please help! One of them has to go as I can't afford to keep 2 cars.

Keep the C32!!! You have so much history together. You know how you meet those happy couples that have been married for 20+ years and they tell you in the beginning it was tough and they almost gave up but they stuck it out.... That's you are your C32. I am getting a little weepy.

dude sell your C32, it will suck your wallet dry!
Reading your post it must be a lemon car?

w203 was never a great sucessor MB, w202 was a helluva better car when it comes to build quality, but this one also has it's downfalls when you find them!
I drive a C43 and like it alot although your car compared to mine is like night and day when it comes to raw brutal performance, you car kills my C43!

Therefore get rid of your C32 and buy something better!
if you want to go back a few years and finding a great specimen of the first w202 C36 or it's sucessor C43?
Great cars if they are healthy.
good luck and god speed.

Maybe trade up to an 03 or an 04 C32. I'd hate to see you give up the car since you love it so. I can just imagine how you feel, I love the 32 because of its size, and it's supercharged! It's a special car, I prefer it over the C55. I think you need to see about getting it tuned right, it sounds to me like even the AMG techs are clueless, or you are just too damn rough on your car. I have read your other posts, and 3 engines is a lot.

You just dropped $45k on a Chevy? Is the SS some kind of rare find or something? I'm not too keen on American cars, but for that price, I hope it was once owned by Nelson Mandela. You could have used that as a down payment on a C63. It doesn't sound like you're strapped for cash, so I say keep the 32 and fix it. I wish you luck, keep us abreast on how it goes.

I know I am married to the right woman because my wife suggested selling both cars and buy a newer model AMG - God bless her, she is 1 in a million. My 32 is at the best state of tune of it's life and running like a dream which is why I can't part with it. I would love a C63, but new in South Africa they are about $130k and second hand about $95k - then you start modding and it gets very ugly very fast.

I'm going down this road right now; good luck if you keep the car. At some point though enough has to be enough. I feel the same about my car. I absolutely love the thing to death, but there are so many problems that keep coming up I almost can't even enjoy it because something is always broken.

Do what makes you happy unless it starts negatively affecting your life or the life of the people you care about. It sounds like you are in love with your AMG, and wouldn't be, so unless it is keeping you from paying your bills and/or eating I say keep it. It's only money and money was meant to be spent.

I am thinking of upgrading to a W210 E55, I know it sounds silly but the thought of selling my C43 almost brings a tear to my eye. Even though I will probably rarely drive the C43 after I buy the E55 I have decided I am going to keep it, maybe give it to my kids one day, NAHHH I'm going to keep it

P.S. I used to be a chevy guy but now I am AMG addicted, sell that POS SS and bask in the glory that is AMG

Nice ride - I am still very tempted by an 80's 190 2.3 16v restored to full touring car spec (even the massive boot spoiler) parked on the showroom floor at my local AMG dealership. I really love those older cars, even the troublesome C36 AMG. We have a similiar taste as I was also thinking along the lines of ditching the Chevy and C32 and buying an E55 AMG. Once you have done the same mods - pulley, ECU, exhaust, filters, etc you end up with a supercharged V8 beast - the best of both worlds. I am just worried that an E55 will destroy me financially.
