Not sure how to take the "Norwegian crazy swap", its all good as long as you love it, apart from being called a ******* Child which I actually like in some strange way, the swap isnt as crazy as the guy who came up with the idea.
Nice to have yopu on board for the ride.
Cheers

OK,
Running later than expected, but I guess the best Scotch takes time too.
Went down to see the boy's, all should be finished up tomorrow or Friday, here are some pic's of the flywheel in final stages of cnc'ing.
Also, by the weekend, John has promised he will have a complete kit price ready, what you will get is the bolt on fly wheel, dual clutch assy, bell housing, adaptor plate, and modified slave/actuator and thrust bearing assy's
Cheers

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh The golden question.
Well, chassis build first, then about $6000.00 for the MoTeC M600 or M800 brains to run it all, it will be some months at least before a running bench test can be done, as far as full blown road test, well there is the rest of the car to finish and at this stage I cant give an exact time frame.
Cheers

Ok so yeah you have 100% of my attention. What are we talking about for price? Do you have anything written up on what is needed and what the end user will need to purchase on their own?
And FREAKING AWESOME!!! I want to be the first v8 amg manual. =) I was saving my pennies for coil overs and clk63 breaks but this has always been at the top of my list. But the use of a C240 trans while would work.. I wasn't sure about the logevity of the transmission. clk6spd had to use a racing clutch just to stop the slipping on his conversion. While I'm not opposed to that I really wanted a Tremac.. like really really really wanted a Tremac.
Hey if you wanted to save some monies on the ECU conversion for a manual. Renntech will take the stock ECU, unmask it, and then program it for a manual transmission. I think their cost is around $800. That will get you up and moving for road tests I think quicker than a motech. This way you don't have to reprogram the ECU and rewire the entire engine.
EDIT:
NM on the ECU comment.. I just read through your thread and saw the note about not being able to use the ECU.

John at ARC who I approached, worked with, took my concept and made it a reality is finalising a price for the kit, the stumbling block is that the original Benz bell housing needs to be slightly modified as you will see in the photo's, so we have been chasing a supplier for them, sorry point is wrecking / breaking yards dont want to part them out off transmissions.
We are working on this and should have a solution soon.
This said, I dont want to rain on John's party as far as price, however apart from needing to purchase a Tremaec, set up the extra pedal in the car, have a cuctom tail shaft built and transmission crossmember, the actual conversion kit will be in the vicinity of $3500-$4000 depending on what we sort out with the bell housings.
You will recieve everything as shown in the very first photo including bell housing, twin plate street/strip clutch assy, flywheel, slave cylinder assy, adaptor plate, and full ARP bolt kit.
As far as the original ECU as oppossed to the MoTeC, cant be done in my instance.
As I dont run half the features a C32 sedan has, such as ABS etc etc etc, to use a Benz ECU without these inputs would put it into limp mode which I discuss a few pages back in this thread.
With the Motec, we are looking at tuning the engine past 300kW (400 HP) and 500Nm (370 lbf) of torque

very cool project. I am scratching my head as to why you would just not drop a more powerful LS motor in the old Datsun shell like others have done in the past, but i like that you're taking the road less traveled. Good luck

A bit of trivia, the idea came to me when I read the history of the 240Z which used a straight six derived from the Prince motor company Datsun acquired some years earlier.
That motor is based on an original Benz 6 which the Prince motor company acquired the rights to reproduce from MB.
Guess this project goes back to some of the original roots of thinking when the 240Z was first concieved.

The old man always said each NYE
"You spend the year ahead the way you started it on NYE"
So what better way to start 2013 than to splash the cash and buy myself some more headaches.
These puppies are off a 997 GT3 Porsche, think they will eventually make their way onto the new nose, new from Porsche $3,800.00, I swipped these brand new never fitted pair for $1,000.00.
Happy new year Crew
P.S. + a side view shot of how they will sit from a web pic

John will be back in a week after some R&R, I contacted the forum moderators and asked permission if we could set him up a thread so he can elaborate on the kit and answer questions, however I havent had a response as yet.
John also seems to have found a supplier for the bell housing issue so technically the kit can be supplied imediately.
Cheers
