C55 Steering Column Knock.

Can anyone help me out or tell me theirs does the same!

Now and again. more so if I am stationary, if I wiggle the steering wheel I can feel a lumpy feel in it and it makes a small lock at the same time. Now I dont think it is suspension related as I never get it goin over bumps. To me it feels like its in the steering column itself.

I have linked a youtube video so you can see and hear it.

Also you will notice when I take the key out and engage the steering lock, note howw much I can move the wheel between the lock points, is this normal. As I thought there should be no movement so it stop would be thiefs from making a jerk action and breaking the lock. Again could be wrong.

Any feedback would bve much appreciated!

I meant to post in here the other day as well.

When parked, if I move the wheel left and right a few degrees I can feel a similar clicking. I've also recently noticed this when I take an incline over some train tracks, I can hear something click. Not sure if it's a loose joint or worn bushing, but I also wonder if anyone else has had something like this replaced. Not sure if it's in the column or tie rods or links.

I have a similar noise - mine seems to come from the left side. I am taking it in on Monday and will let you know what they find.

Left tie rod or ball joint and bushings all round on mine.
