wrong fluid used for engine coolant
I had an independent shop flush my coolant about 3 months ago and they used generic green coolant, yesterday I had to replace leaking radiator and they used the same green coolant. Can they get in trouble for using the wrong coolant as i have researched on here that you need to use mb coolant only which is yellow or orange. What can I do are they obligated to pay for everything please help or am i tripping over nothing

They need to pay for everything..!!! Shops have this information in there computers or manuals and should pay attention to what there doing and the damage they can cause to customers vehicles. You are not at fault, THEY ARE..!!

My coolant is green also. Since brand new. The problem comes when you mix green with Orange. If you do that, the chemicals react. You can use whatever coolant so long as you flush out the old stuff first.

You can't always go off of color. MB has a coloring agent added to the coolant. If you purchase the Zerex directly it is clear with a slight gold tint. Same stuff you get from MB but 1/2 the price and a different color.

ask the shop what brand they used and check to see if it meets m/b specs. afaik there are only 2 types that meet the m/b specs. m/b coolant , zerex g50. doesnt matter if its purple as long as it meets the spec sheet
