Sad Day for my C32

Sad day for me and my C32 yesterday. I just bought the car about 4 weeks ago, after purchase had to have some major parts replaced (like the torque converter).

Yesterday when sitting at a red light, I was stuck from behind by a lady that wasn't paying attention.

Will auto insurance total it? Do I want them to total it? It took me about a year to find a C32 that was within 100 miles of where I live.

a car.
That'll buff out, I got a guy.

In all seriousness, I would try and at least buy it back if they total it. 95% of the car is still salvageable.

New rear bumper cover and support, new trunk , new rear qtrs and C pillars. Yepper, that's about a total loss . Who's her insurance carrier?? Not sure I'd want her back. How many miles you have??

wow sorry to here that... I'm having some trouble with my c32 aswell. I just bent one of my brabus monoblock wheels two days ago. Then I was detailing my car and my lamp fell off a shelf and dented my door less than 24 hours later. It sucks. Let some time go by and things will work out.

How do you like it compared to the c32 in terms of handling? I always liked the e55's but feel like they would handle like a boat in comparison to a nimble c-class...then again, you have the rx7 for all your handling needs

Yeah, that will be a total loss with the quarter damage. I don't think I'd want that car back. To have that repaired properly will likely cost a whole bunch of money.

Insurance Company

In settling with the insurance company to replace this same model car and.....to get the best value back to buy another car.....

Be resistant in accepting kelly blue book retail values, etc....because your car was in exceptional show worthy shape....see below....

1) show them the most recent pictures of the car in pristine shape
2) show them recent repair receipts
3) search the web for examples of the highest priced similar model cars with highest retail prices and show them photos of these examples of replacement....
4) tell them this car was or has been entered in car club concours events and show the pristine photos again...

The goal is to have them pay you MORE than you paid to replace it......

Since you just bought it they may ask for your purchase receipt.....combine that with repair receipts.......but really try to establish replacement value without your bill of sale if you can to get a better/higher cash settlement.....

i.e. I had a 13 year old BMW 525i, purchased for $ 37,000 new......State Farm offered $ 5,000 blue or kelly book value......I got $ 13,000 or 35% after 13 years using the aforementioned tips plus my determination of refusing their first settlement offer.....took 2 weeks of being persistent with all the paperwork sent to them........good luck and sorry this happened to you....

My E55's handling is right in par with the Crown Victorias and Lincoln Town Cars they have down at the bingo hall. Not too happy with the gas tank/leaking fuel over the back seat! Im waiting anyday now for the Airmatic to fail.
If i ever trade this car in...it will be to Carmax. This will be the last benz i buy
My advice...................keep your C Class

Glenn........... do i have to tell you again to leave my dog out of this. At least I dont have to pay for its college education.

Distracted drivers can be just as bad as a drunk driver. Some people get behind the wheel and tend to forget the kind of damage and injuries that can occur from accidents even at relatively low speeds.

Minor issues with the E55 but i would never thought MBUSA would directly ignore many compliants with the fuel tank leaking. This problem is currentl with all E Classes 2003-07 and CLS 06-07. There is a big thread on the AMG W211 section titled "Warning our Cars are Bombs".

The airmatic suspension is known to fail around +40K miles as well. My C32 was totally more reliable. Thats why I bought the SC300. No way could i drive the E55 everyday. It would be more expensive to own than a Russian Bride.

I guess that takes the E55 off my short list....

I knew the E55 would have problems (somewhat similar to those on mine), Airmatic (although mine hasn't gone out... yet), various electronics, then the S/C pumps and drivetrain, but leaking gas tanks?

Back to topic, it looks pretty bad, has it been looked at yet? I wouldn't doubt frame damage.

Drew, seriously?? Is the Cinco Cinco that bad??? Does it cost you cinco cinco cinco zero every time you take it in??? My C classes, knock on wood have been pretty bullet proof so far!! Not as fast as the cinco cinco for sure...........

Oh, and how's the girlfriend, err I mean foo foo!!

Man first off i'm so sorry. Now are you handy with tools. Pull the bumper and open the trunk if there is any frame damage buy back and part out make them give you top dollar before you tell them you are going to buy back if no frame damage make it a project if you have space, buy the quarters and parts and fix your self if you can weld. You can even take the time and build the whole car engine, tranny, diff and all.: violent: If it would have been mine. Did she even thing what would have happened if a child or anybody would have been walking behind you.
