ZG's C55 Makeover
I've decided to do some work on the car. I replaced the grill myself with a one-slat & star grill.

The car is in the shop now getting the following additional upgrades:
  • Swapping in OEM Project Lenses (with 8K bulbs)
  • Clear side markers
  • 8000K parking lights
  • Satin Grey wheel powdercoat
  • Red paint calipers
  • black painted break rotor hats
  • Removing front plate / installing 'removable' front plate mount (so I can take the plate off for shows/photos)
  • Flat hood badge (GM-13 from JBWorld)

Photos of the finished job to come, but for now some shots with the grill installed (it really needs the flat badge pretty badly IMO):

  • Swapping in OEM Project Lenses (with 8K bulbs) - Excellent
  • Clear side markers - Have you considered black or smoked?
  • 8000K parking lights - Good call
  • Satin Grey wheel powdercoat - Will it look much different than the factory finish?
  • Red paint calipers - Please anything but red!!!!
  • black painted break rotor hats - Match them to the front color (but not red)
  • Removing front plate / installing 'removable' front plate mount (so I can take the plate off for shows/photos) - There's probably holes drilled in to the bumper, I know that's what the dealership did to mine.
  • Flat hood badge (GM-13 from JBWorld) - Yes, ASAP.

Looks like it's all coming together nicely. Can't wait for some after pics.

edit: Oh yeah that grill is awesome, wish it was made for the W203 front end.

Can't wait to see it when it's done, the headlights should tie every thing together nicely. I don't know if it's just the pic, but your car looks super shiny.

So they finished working on the car... the only problem is I'm out of town so I won't get to see it until the end of the month when im back in town.

The shop did send me two photos though... he says i'll just have to wait to see the rest... SO EXCITED!!

nice. maybe black out the slat on the grill and leave the star chrome, it might look better.

haha I do somewhere...but I wanna sell the car as is for now, unless someone is willing to buy it stock, then all my, one of a kind, rare pieces will be up for sale. How rare? 1 out of 1 3 slat CF diffuser. Custom painted, lens treated facelift CLK bi-x with a DS2 swap. hmm, true dual SS exhaust...lol etc.

Haven't had a chance to drive since last weekend. Going to try and nail down for sure what the exact symptoms are before going further and talking to dealer again. It may be I'm having the same issue you did -- they don't go on unless you flip them on before turning the car on.

That was happening to my C32 because it was not set to xenons present, once it was set works on all settings. The car is turning off the lights because it's not sensing the wattage from the halogen headlights. This is the way the car tells you a bulb has gone out.

Was your hood re-sprayed?

From the close up shot of the hood emblem, you have a good amount of orange peel.

Nope, stock paint. The peel isn't noticable in person, just the closeup sort've exaggerates it.
