Sure, I'd be happy to have the video.

Autozone sells a remanufactured unit for $80 more than a brand new Bosch? I think you have the right plan - return it.

Do the rebuilt units come in a sealed box? I wonder if they simply toss them back in the warehouse for the next guy.

The box wasn't sealed and the sensor module itself looked damaged (in addition to the wire being bent, the black plastic looked shaved/scraped/melted on one side). The housing was also slightly dirty - not that I'm complaining about that... whatever.

Should be getting the part in today. I'll make the first attempt at creating a decent video. If it doesn't turn out right, I'll give it a go when I get the part from Autohaus.

This is all under the assumption that the MAF is actually the problem. Everything seems to point to it, but it could be something else.

Well, Autozone won't allow me to return the MAF sensor, so I decided to cancel that and just ordered through Autohaus AZ. Much better price. Should be here by Friday as I used the express mail option. Video will have to wait until then...

Video is still on hold until I can find a better way to record it other than with the iphone...

MAF sensor seems to have done the trick. Replaced it and everything works fine now.

Not so fast... had to take the car in to get the full diagnostic check. Really considering picking up the Star system to avoid having to do this again. Same symptoms/code as before. The new MAF sensor tricked me. Will update once the diagnostic is finished. So, maybe my old MAF sensor works fine after all...

Got the car back. Apparently, the adaptive settings needed to be cleared by the DAS... didn't realize this would be such an issue? The car is running fine now, but we'll see... the mechanic indicated that I may want to consider replacing the Crankshaft Positioning Sensor if it acts up again. That was a friendly recommendation as he knows I do the work on my own.

This problem has affected many of us C55 owners, My last fix which has worked for the last year was to adjust and clean out the throttle body, I have had the MAS changed.

It's a little late to help you, but this may help someone else find one. Also, since you've alread R&R'd your's, you know how it's done. For those that have no idea how it's done, I made a few notes here when I did mine.
Great website u have there. Thank you!

Any more updates to this? I am experiencing the same exact symptoms of the car bucking. I order a new MAF from Autohauz. Will give it a shot. I did the adaptive learning reset and it seems good but it has only been about 15 miles.

I've searched the FAQ's and "how to clean the throttle body", but did not come up with anything for the C55. Can someone please post a link? I too have hesitation/stalling during the first few minutes of driving in cold weather. Thank you!

Ok so I cleaned the Throttle Body with brake cleaner soaked rags. It wasn't even that dirty. Also cleaned the MAF and the problem seems to be fixed. I drove about 30 miles on it so far.

Update. The colder morning start and drive was a success. The car drives like it is brand new again.

Alright guys my 06, C55 has the same problem! I changed the MAF and it ran well for a while but the issue for me seems to be my valve cover gasket is out again. The car has 103k and this will be the second time changing it. First happened around 36k, under warranty. Anyways once that oil starts leaking, the MAF will surely start to fail. The MAF in this car is a pretty sorry design to say the least. It's basically designed to fail. I just changed my plugs with the exception of the last 3 on driver side

Dont know what you mean designed to fail. Most cars have in the same spot. If you have performance filters with oil in them, then yes it will eventually fail. The vent hoses from the valve covers are after the MAF as well so if using standard filters, maf should last a while.

For the others asking about instructions on how to clean your TB, real simple, take off maf, and the boot curving down to the TB. Reach in and clean with some TB cleaner and a non lint towel or something that wont leave anything for the motor to suck in. lol I just kinda felt my way in with a non lint towel with some cleaner on it. Took a few tries but eventually worked.

Is it a pop up and pull clip ? thanks in advance

Biturbowagon I mean that Mercedes could've engineered a way better system for that sensor. It has one clip on the back and multiple points of potential failure (Top and bottom seals and the actual sensor itself). At the very least Mercedes could've had two clips on it so that it would sit flush a little easier over the intake manifold. Does anyone have a diagram that shows how the Maf system is mounted so that other users can see it? It really is an easy job and the part isn't too expensive, but if you weren't a motor head the dealer would want like $700 to remove and replace a part that might take you 30 minutes to remove and replace. I've already had to replace my air conditioning unit, power window regulator on the driver side, battery, two valve cover gaskets and the heating element on the driver side went out at like 60k. I still love her though! I'm ready for a coil over suspension and some new wires now.

There is a clip on the boot below the MAF that holds on the bottom rear of the MAF, but there is also the surrounding clip that holds the maf to the intake. Kinda hard to explain but there is a thread somewhere of somebody giving picture instructions. ill try and find. That clip in back never really popped up for me so i took off the boot with the Maf all in one so i could clean the TB. I redid all of the rubber gaskets before i put back on to make sure it was a solid sealed fit.
