New E55tt or M5tt
I've been window shopping for a 2012.
Which would you prefer and why? Both around $90K with about the same 550 hp but the E55s have a bit more torque.
I did not want to post this on the E55 section as they may just be a tad biased.
I lost interest in the CTS-V after seeing these 2012 snail driven motors. I'm not interested in another SC'd car and mounting an aftermarket SC on a 63 is too much of a hassle after all I went through with my C55 aside from the warranty and reliability issue. A used 65TT is nice but less efficient, outdated styling, high maintenace and maybe no warranty.

C63 AMG, P30
I'm the biggest AMG fan, but I would have to go with the E60 M5. The e55 looks way more outdated than the e60 M5. Now if you were going to get an e63 amg then I'd have that instead of the m5.
M5 ftw in this case.
M5 ftw in this case.

if this isn't going to be your daily driven car, i'd just look into a used lamborghini gallardo (they can be had for around the price your looking for) and do a TT system in that. my friend robert in florida had that done to his gallardo (he's 20) and he has 1,250hp on race gas. underground racing did the job.

well this is the way i see it. MB 5.5 twin turbo vs 4.4 twin turbo from bmw. as much as i hate to admit it bmw M series have been proven to keep their values more than AMGs mercedes will naturally have more torque due to its size as far as tuning it willbe cheaper in the M5 given bmws market but untimately all cards on the table the mercedes will yield the most power without radical change. as far as design i would go with the cls55 instead of the e55 the only difference is that the E has 5 seat and the cls has 4 seats in conclusion
go for the cls55 brand new design which will enjoy better than the e55 which is dues for a facelift and new model in about 2-3 years
M5 well its nice but im just not feeling the design they worked on it but almost left it untouched. plus alpina has been tring to push as much ponys out of that 4.4L motor for a while and never came up with some safe amazing numbers, just my $0.02

Stock vs. stock, another vote for the F10 M5. As an added plus, aftermarket support would probably be better for the M5 as well.

Well, well, my dads friends uncles brother has had FIVE gallardos. And he has THREE daily drivers. And he has a helicopter. Two of them. Built with his bare hands. President Obama washes it every other Thursday.
Come on guys, seriously. Who cares.
I would go with the 55.

another vote for the E63 (I believe it is still badged that way even with the 55tt) I haven't been a fan of BMW styling since Bangle started the flame surface styling that has continued even with his absence. Oh and I can't stand the texture of BMW leather.

BMW m5 for the manual transmission. Lack of manual is the worst part about amg cars IMO. Happy I have a 997tt 6 speed else I wouldn't have purchased the c32. Yes, no doubt the new transmissions are better but I'm a purist.

I would go with the AMG but thats my opinion.
My story, I was looking at a E46 M3 before I got my car.. There are a couple things I like about bmw but than a couple more things I dont like. The biggest plus for it was the 6spd manual and the aftermarket for them.
1. Lack of interior quality..
2. Lack of torque through the power band.
3. The price for those is way more than than the bang for your buck with the AMG.
4. The last but most expsensive, THE maintenance!
I believe that the ///M series is not hand built and is mass produced, I like to go to a car show and not have the same car as everyone else. My .02
Last I heard they dont make manual transmissions for the ///M5's?
