My exhaust is entirely stock. All I have done is cut the secondary cats out for straight pipes, and then cut the resonator out for a straight pipe. Since i've cut the resonator out I have had raspiness and drone.

I don't believe I have an X-Pipe in my exhaust, unless you are referring to the merge collector behind the secondary cats. Like I said before though, the quad/dual exhaust (like you have) changes the tone immensely. I have heard a few videos of those types of setups and it sounds nothing like what I am experiencing.

I wish that were true for C32's. That thread is describing the secondary cat delete on a C55...

No difference. Deleting the secondary cats only adds some volume to the exhaust note.

Oh okay, that is why we have different tones. I keep forgetting that you don't have the quad exhaust. But yeah, I was going to say rasp? Eh? I couldn't even imagine rasp from the quad I have. It sounds almost V8-ish at idle and way different at 3k or 4k.

Sorry for the confusion though lol

Success!

Magnaflow Glasspack installed in lieu of the resonator. Sound is amazing. No raspiness or drone. The tone is very deep and throaty...exactly what I was looking for.

Have a hear for yourself and compare to the sound in my other videos.

I purchased the glasspack from Summit Racing in Southern California for $45. Unlike the old glasspacks of the 60s, it does not use fiberglass and the acoustic packing material does not degrade over time so the sound stays consistent. Magnaflow offers a lifetime warranty on their products.

Bottom line: Do not delete the resonator for a straight pipe

Thanks for that....that was the only thing stopping me from getting it done...didn't want that "rasppy sound"

That's really cheap for a good exhaust setup, are you going to change it even more in future or?

As far as the exhaust goes I will probably leave it be. I really like the way it sounds at the moment. I do want to try headers at some point, so that may be my next move regarding the exhaust though I won't be able to try it for a while...I have some rims waiting to be put on

Here is a sound clip for you to be the judge. This was done that day I got it and only at like half throttle around 3k RPM.

Love the look and sound of the exhaust vid you posted. Care to share any details?? Thinking of doing this to my 03 C32
