so my 2011 204 has the ATE brake pads (OEM) and it seems as MBz has updated their pads, in which it virtually doesn't create any brake dust as it did with the previous generation ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
With the 204, i can go for a month and the silver oem wheels would still look nice and silvery with a bit of dust...unlike the 203s with a month, and the front would become gunmetal finish lol
Anywho, my C32 is due for a front brake pad replacement soon, and i was just wondering if anyone here knows if the ATE pads for the W203 will have the updated formula as the 204s?
i want to go OEM, but kinda effy about the dust...
i was considering Akebono..but im waiting still for tirerack's reply.
TIA

I agree, whatever MB spec'd from their supplier - the formulation of the 2010+ W204 brake pads is amazing. Virtually no dust, period.
I just bought Disc-Italia hyper ceramics based on the experience of another member and his new CLK55. Same results as the W204 formulation after 1,000 miles.

He claims the pads have great stopping power and no noise. I'll be able to compare OEM stopping and feel to the disc italia's. I won't be able to install for about a week, however.

RE: Pad dust
Not sure if this is completely relevant, but I recently replaced all 4 wheels pads on my C55 with OEM replacement Pagid pads, not purchased from my Mercedes dealer. Brake dust is reduced at least 50% (or better) on front wheels, and virtually no dust on the rears since replacement. I left OEM rotors on the car, they were plenty thick and in A-1 shape; the new pads also resurfaced them nicely.
I thought that reduced dust was just due to the pads being new, but I now suspect that the pad compound may be different. Car stops better than ever with the new pads too.

I got the EBC yellowstuff pads and I can say, after a month, my rims are black but you can't compare the stopping power from OEM pads, night and day.

I changed out my brakes with OEM pads 2 months ago and I noticed that the brake dust issue was much approved! When I ordered them from parts.com, I was notified that the part number was changed and that it was cheaper to boot. No squeaking and no difference in brake performance.

Install pics
I installed the front and back pads today. The pad quality is good. Nicely finished, no rough edges. They installed perfectly - no grinding, the shims were equal to OE and the wear sensor slots are exact to OE.
I was only able to drive about 25 miles, however the pedal feel is great (equal to OE), the initial grip and braking performance is excellent. The 030 brakes are tough to fade, and I didn't get too aggressive - however, I think they'll be excellent with hard driving. No noise, no pad slipping in the caliper.
After ~25 miles, there was no dust. Now I know it was only 25 miles. But the pic with the dust on the inside of the rim was after <100 miles with the OE pads from 2008.
Car goes into storage in about 2 weeks, not sure I'll cover 100 miles by then, but I'll report back on the dust results if possible.

030 brakes are the 6 piston front / 4 piston. I elected to get the 2pc 360mm front also. Some are single piece 355mm.
These were optional on European C55 cars and also offered on US SLK, CLK.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
I searched the forum first! Read a ton of threads, but still haven't found too much talk about where to buy OEM brake pads for a good deal.
Any advice?

?
Thanks.
