Should I buy the C55?
Currently have and love a C43 (1998 w/ only 60k miles) but am tempted by a local 05 c55 with 69k for 16900. Second owner, bought as a certified Benz and still under warranty until spring of '12. What do you think?

I wouldnt.. Save up a few more grand and get yourself into an e55.. You wont regret it.

Thanks for the feedback. Love the E55, but have a tiny garage that just has room for a C size car. Understand the fun of modding a boosted car, but don't really llike the looks of that front end (c55 has the clk front). Any other particular reason the c55 is a bad choice? Also thinking of a three series or a g35 but really would prefer to stay with a Benz.

I am new to MB but from what I have read the c55 is an excellent car however you need to be happy with it the way it is since there are much better models for modifying and the e55 is faster (and boatier).

I went from a W202 to the C55. The C43 is built like a tank, whereas the C55 is not. You will miss the soild feel and build quality of the C43, but the C55 will make up for it in power, handling, and styling.

+1... C32 is much better value, as you are able to mod close to 375 rwhp or even more.. However, the c55 is a great car and seems to fit the OP, as hes not interested in engine mods..

The C55 is a much nicer car overall than a C32 and will be way more reliable. Also, from what I've been seeing the E55 has some costly common problems (air suspension, gas leaks...) that I wouldn't even want to deal with. Plus, the E55 is a bigger and heavier car and I'm not sure it would be nearly as fun to drive.
