2006 C55 AMG for 25.5k with 32k too much?

Hello, just joined. About to purchase a 2006 C55 with 32k but good aftermkt warranty for another 2 years or up 2 100k miles. 2 owners. Good shape. New tires, front rotors and pads. Decent deal in socal?

Also, where do I find a replacement flat badge for the hood?
iPod adaptor? Any must mods to the sound system?
Any must mods to the car?
First time on forums. Please forgive my unfamiliarity.

I have a feeling most here will tell you that's way to much, but I think it's right on the money. Especially if it has BiXenons, Comand, and the Bird's Eye Maple wood interior trim plus the warranty and new tires/brakes. If that is they're asking price, I would still try and get them down another $500-$1000 but otherwise I say go for it. As long as you end up with a really good car, paying a little extra isn't a bad thing anyway. Just make sure the warranty is transferable and make sure it covers things like seals and gaskets (I've seen tons of "good" warranties that have that as a separate add-on).

I agree - find out exactly what the aftermarket warranty includes... I've done some research on this, and found the best policies are exclusionary warranties, those that "include everything except" and then there's a list of items like brake pads, rotors, belts, etc.

Other positives - super low miles, but given that it's still almost 6 years old at this point, you can try to bargain them down a little bit. Check what other C55's are going for, what's bluebook on it... in the DC/MD area that car would go for less (but with more miles)... still, no harm in low-balling them, right??

Good luck!

I think you can get a better deal, maybe 20-23k. Definitely find out what type of warranty the car has, if it's starmarked you'll be golden, it's essentially factory warranty. I purchased my C55 with 70k miles, navigation, bixenons, and 6 months of warranty for 15k. There are a few other members who have also gotten great deals on their C55's with even less miles than what I found mine with. Good luck.

Re: 06 C55

Provided it has all options, including Navi, $25K is not unreasonable. A couple of years warranty thrown in certainly doesn't hurt either.

I paid $29.5K three years ago for a 2006 C55 that had 20K on the odometer at the time, and the car was perfect; and that came with four years of additional warranty. I'd say $25K is too much three years later, but that's some low miles for a 5 year old car. The warranty is probably worth $3K. Unless you plan to keep the car for a very long time, maybe forgo the warranty and save your self a few thousand upfront.

Good luck.

25k is a great price
The Car was 61k 32k miles ago
If everyone keeps getting these super deals for under 20k for a 61k car the valve will tank.
I would like to think when I sell mine I can still get decent money for mine

Thanks to all. I ended up paying the 25K (Wanted 28K originally) The car is in immaculate condition except for a little rash on one of the wheels. Fantastic acceleration although I'd say the gear response lags a liitle...Anything relatively easy that can be done to correct this?
Warranty covers all for another 2 years and 35K miles.
Have to say I am stoked.

The price was right, you have to remember these cars are rare. Now throw the low mileage in, you have to pay the piper.

I think a new focus can be optioned up to 25k lol. The value in used AMGs is insane.

Congratulations! Enjoy the car and have fun. A good deal resides in the mind of the buyer, if he didn't think it was worth the money he wouldn't have purchased it. I think you paid a fair price and got a TON of car for the $. I mean really, for $25k he could have bought a Camry.

Congrats man! I think that is a bargain since the car still has warranty and also the fact that has only 32k miles on it.

Congrats and welcome to the club, but what you mean there's lag in the gear response? Are you talking about the car shifting or when you are manually shifting?

Congrats man! Very low mileage, as a long time owner of one I can tell you first hand they are wonderful cars, and VERY reliable! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine.

There is no question, the car rocks and it's a pleasure to drive. I have to do a few basics for now (window tint, etc) but I am very happy with it.
As for the gear lag, I mean when using the manual mode. Not a big deal, just need to get used to it..but if there is an easy mod, id like to know.

Thanks again for all the replies. Stoked to see such good feedback on the car.

The lag is normal for the c55 in manual mode. I think eurocharged may have come up with a solution for it, but not 100% sure.

I have a Brabus tuned ECU and TCU along with some exhaust mods , I can tell you the trans shifted slightly better after the TCU tune, and in my case the MPG's went up quite a bit with the ECU tune, do the res and secondary cat delete, its the best 100 bucks tops you can spend!

Hey man, quick question, if you don't mind me asking - what did the Brabus ECU tune run you ($)?

Secondly, regarding the lag, a simple throttle reset may help, and it'll give the car a chance to adjust to YOUR style of driving!

Gents, forgive me...I'm way to new on the MB world...
Brabus is nearby me, should I go see what they can do for me on the ECU tune or should or is there a better way?
The second cat + res delete , could it give me issues when smoging in California? Is there a link as to how to do it somewhere?
How do i do the throttle reset?

I'm pretty sure someone on here said they passed the CA sniffer test with the secondary cats removed. Search a little and you should find it.

With engine off, turn key to the right to ON (but not START). Push and hold your foot down on the accelerator for 5-10 seconds. With your foot still held down, turn the key to OFF and continue holding for another 5-10 seconds. Finally, release your foot. Now you can turn your key to START and wa-lah! It's reset.

You should feel like you're getting more throttle, earlier. That's why most people feel like the car is [B]faster[B] after the reset. Then it will adapt to how "heavy" your foot is, i.e. the way you drive and how you get on it.

I had a great connection with a potential Brabus tuner who wanted to give their tunes a "test drive". So I basically got it for free besides the dyno day etc. If i were you I would look around for a Brabus tuner near you and see what they charge... post it here if you get a quote I wonder what i should have paid for it!
