C43 vs. C55

I love the torque, although sometimes coming out of corners it's in a gear higher than I'd like, but ah well - that's what the button shifts can do to help out, to downshift into the desired gear. I forget about fuel prices whenever I put my foot down...
Too much funich gets me thinking...a C64 has what, another 50-60 ft lbs, and a W210 E55 has something like 120 ft lbs more...granted those cars weigh more....but I need to drive one of those!!

2005 Mercedes C55 AMG
Great Post guys. Canadian here from Toronto. LOVE my C55 and having owned it for 5 years now I think it's probably the most balanced, practical, and refined sports car which can do it all. I've considered trading it but I just can't seem to find another comparable car as powerful but inexpensive to operate and maintain. The ONLY issue I would have is that it could use a better audio/multimedia system, but hey that's just a nice to have.
ENJOY!!

Double doh again! I just noticed that my other post mentioned not only a C64, but the W210 E55. Of course I mean to say C63 and W211 E55!!
Adnanhoque - I'm definitely very pleased with the car, no regrets on purchasing it. It's quite a different car from my S2000, which is cool. The only negative would be the cost of fuel and rear tires, but oh well. I'd love a C63, but then the fuel and tire costs would be even more noticeable.

Bringing this back.
Other than suspension and handling which I'll give to the W203 c55, all I can say is that the 5.4l motor in a C43 just completely tranforms it into a totally different beast of a car. Until then you would not really appreciate fully owning a w202 with one of the staple AMG V8 engines that AMG is known for.
Now this is not taking away from the w203 C55 because I love that car as well. But the w203 to me just seems to miss an authenticity that the w210 E55 and what a w202 Cclass C43 with a 5.4L v8 offers.
The w203 C55 can be missed on the streets unless you really look at it to make sure its not just any w203. I don't find that with the w202 AMG cars maybe a little with the w210 cars since a sport E430 could be mistaken for an E55.
Personally I'd like to be in you position where I could have owned both but I think I would love the W208 CLK55 and my C43/55 as a pair and then maybe a W203 c55 and my car 2nd.
Just my thoughts. One thing I'll say,the sleep factor of my car cannot be matched or overstated. Makes me feel that MB's are real beasts!

I just bought a 2006 C55 because my C280 was rear-ended but I'm still having a hard time parting ways with it. I've done a lot of work on it to keep it running perfectly so I have grown very attached to it. I've decided to keep it as a project car since I pretty much know it from top to bottom. I'm excited for the next few years with the 55

The trunk light can be disabled if you pull the switch out - it's right on the inside of the trunk lid itself. Lovely little feature!
