Mercedes C32 AMG
My car makes the same noise. It's coming from that black box with the 6 tubes. I believe it's the ABS purge valve. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
I usually notice mine most often when in the drive thru. But it's done it every since I've had the car. Comes and goes and seems to be normal.

Possible Fuse
So my C32 starting making the ticking sound about 3 days ago. I was coming to terms with a big repair bill when a penny fell into my cigeratte lighter. While attempting to remove it I blew a fuse. Normally I would research exactly which fuse needed replacing, but I just starting pulling fuses from the side panel inside the cabin. I found a blown 25 watt fuse and replaced it. My lighter didn't not power up, but the ticking stopped! I'm not sure what the fuse control, but the sound stopped IMMEDIATELY. So, if you start experiencing a ticking sound, check your fuses...the lighter fuse is in the engine bay, btw.
